Lemon Pipers CDs
As of now, the best Lemon Pipers CD to get is the 2001 Buddha compilation, (Green Tambourine, the best of the Lemon Pipers.) It has many of the strong tracks recorded by the band. It is separated with the first nine tracks being more pop oriented, and the final four tracks being material that the Pipers chose to record, including three original songs. What sets this collection apart from the rest however, is the sound quality. The orchestral pop songs have intricate arrangements, and the new remastering reveals the elaborate nature of the recordings. With headphones, or careful listening, one can hear the many instruments, and the overall complexity. My one criticism of this collection, is that it fails to include at least two strong tracks, the folk/rock Ask Me If I Care, and the group original Through With You. However, in my opinion, this is the best collection available, because with a group that has orchestral/psychedelic pop leanings, the sound quality is especially important.
