Maturity in BDSM

Maturity comes to people at different times, rates, and amounts. Even with the variations on the majority of people, this is still something that needs to be considered. The maturity of an individual often times dictates how they will react to a situation. But maturity does not necessarily depend on age, for the rate that people mature at varies. To truly find safety in BDSM there needs to be a high level of maturity on the part of all involved.

For the most part people who do take a serious interest in BDSM are mature. This works as unwritten rule, where all those involved are expected to be mature enough to handle the situation that arise. Maturity among BDSM enthusiasts is something fairly predominant. A maturity that encompasses a wide variety of aspects, including sensuality and sexuality, is necessary. Sensuality and sexuality are two things in which finding maturity can be difficult.

Maturity is sensuality and sexuality is something that takes time, respect, and discipline to gain. The belief that with little work one can gain this maturity, is blasphemy. Perhaps the only way that this maturity can be gained is through experience and serious personal thought and reflection. The number one thing being the personal thought. One needs to first understand what they are getting involved with, and how it affects others. Pleasure for one's self. is not what this is all about, nor is it what should be strived for. Looking for personal pleasure is anything but mature. When the proper thought and consideration has been given to the activity, then respect comes. From this respect can then come experience. Through experience more knowledge is gained, followed by more reflection. This cycle continues on forever, with a persons maturity building with it.

The maturity of someone says a lot about there character. People who are not mature enough to handle BDSM activities are often times unsafe, inexperienced, and uneducated. They are uneducated about the techniques of BDSM, which that alone can be unsafe. Inexperience is another thing that is unsafe. If someone is unwilling to seriously think about things, and find someone willing to work with them to develop their skills and gain experience, they may end up remaining very immature. Immaturity is not limited to children, teen-agers, or young adults. There are older people who are immature in sexual terms, simply because of a lack of respect and experience with in.

Maturity is something that needs to be looked at when it comes to BDSM. For someone to become mature does take experience, and people should not be restricted from gaining experience. But it needs to be taken seriously, and with the utmost respect. Like most activities involving BDSM, maturity is something that is very serious.
