Why do people "shrink" when they get older?
They don't "shrink" much, but they do lose body height. By the age of seventy, their height decreases by about 3 cm from his maximum height during early adulthood. This is due to three things.

1.loss of space between the spinal discs due to gravity.
2.a weakening of the back muscles
3.poor posture

Women suffer a bit more loss in proportion to their earlier height than men. This is probably due to their higher rates of osteoporosis.
