| Okay, 'The X Files' has become a sci-fi legend over the nine years it has been running. They've covered everything, from alien cloning to government cover-ups. So you'd think and hope that its final episode would leave you hanging from your seat and close this show in a great way. But for those who have eagerly waited for this episode, you may be disapointed. This episode opens with Agent Fox Mulder (David Duchovny returning after being absent for the whole season) breaking in to a hidden government facility and opening their hidden databases. In the dtabase, he sees something so terrifying, he immediatly shuts it down and tries to escape. He is then chased down by a 'super soldier' who was created by the government. Mulder escapes by thrwoing the man off a walkway and into some power cables. He is then caught by marines and placed under arrest. This gets the attention of the people at home as Mulder is due to be put on trial for his life. Agents Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson), Monica Reyes (Annabeth Gish) and John Dogget (Robert Patrick) know he can't have killed this man as he is unkillable. The trouble is they have to proove this in fron of a jury of skeptics in a millitary court. Agent Walter Skinner (Mitch Pilleggi) takes on the responsability of defending Mulder. By bringing in witness after witness of former 'X-Files' guest ppearences that have helped move the plot. The witnesses tell their story about their experiances which tells the entire X-Files story to help people know whats happened and what they may have missed and what they need to know to figure out its ending. Even after all the witnesses, the jury sentences Mulder guilty and he is set to be killed by leathal injecion. On top of that, Dogget returns to the office to find the X-Files have been closed by the new Assistant Director, who was on the jury, and is also n Alien spy. This leads them to break Mulder out of prison and set him and Scully out to Mexico in hope of moving off the continent. Instead of doing this, Mulder heads into the middle of no-where where is is said a special Troothsayer lives. Upon arrival, we find out this troothsayer is the mysterious Cancer Man (Willian B Davis) who was thought to have been killed several times. He annouces to Mulder and Scully what Mulder has been too frightened to say the whole epiosde, what he found at that facility... December 22, 2012. The date for the final alien invasion! Apon hearing this news, Dogget and Reyes arrive after a psychic child alerts then to their wereabouts and warn them of incoming millitary missile choppers. They escape, only when Dogget asks Mulder and Scully to come with him, they decline and get into their own car and drive off in the other direction as the choppers destroy the Troothsayers keep, killing off the Cancer Man forever we hope. Wether or not they were after him or Mulder is not said. The final scene ever of the X-Files had Mulder and Scully sitting in a motel room talking about what to do next. They talk about how the X files have effected their lives and wether they would change anything. They say that they would not change anything and cuddle up together as the X-Files fades to black and Chris Carters name comes up for the last time, making it seem like Mulder and Scully are destined to live a life of running and hiding. |

| Ahhhh, the good old days. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Mulder is put up against a jury of skeptics who want him to fry. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Mulder and Scully embrace after almost a year apart. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| So that's it???? This is how they finished t???? What the hell was that???? This may have well been just a normal epiosde as it ended just like all the rest. I hope there is another film to finaly close this show. Those looking for closure in this very good show will not find it here. The first half makes like and episode of Law and Order and the rest is just plain confusing. I wonder what they will do now? As a season ginale this would have been fantastic, but as a final ever, just not worth it. Sorry guys, but this was really disapointing and gets a poor 25 out of 90 from Movieman. |
