Data
Lieutenant Commander Data was found in 2338
by the crew of the U.S.S Tripoli
on the planet Omicron Theta.
Built by cybernetics genius Dr. Noonien Soong,
Data graduated Starfleet Academy with honors
in exobiology and probability mechanics.
During his time on the Enterprise
he has met his "father", his brother, Lore,
and the android version of his mother, Juliana Soong.
He created a daughter named Lal,
but she died a few days after she was created.
Data is the equivalent of a walking ship library. He has knowledge of everything known to the Federation. As such, he is an invaluable member of the Enterprise.
Data is very literal and can be confused by human idioms and figures of speech. His own attempts to use those idioms are never very successful.
