The Big Surprise Ok, so it's not that Big...or that much of a Surprise...let me have my moment.
*First, a brief introduction.  I, Big Poppa Pat, was one of the few people out there who actually watched WCW Saturday Night.  Now, I'm too young to remember when it wasn't anything but a big Jobber Showcase, but the point is...I liked the Jobber Showcase.  I enjoyed my weekly fix of Barry Darsow and Los Dos Villanos.  Well, about 2 months ago, Vince Russo decided to take my Jobber Showcase away from me.  Now it's all highlights, and I for one, feel a hole in my wrestling heart where this program used to be, a hole that can only be filled so much by WCW Worldwide.  So what I did was this.  I have decided to, in a way, revive WCW Saturday Night as a wrestling show, in the similar fashion I revived the TV Title: Through the powers of imagination.  *Allow me to explain.  I have what I guess you could call a more "centralized" vision for a WCW Saturday Night program than what it used to be.  Before it switched to highlights, it had two extremes: It had 2 young Power Plant workers wrestling, or it had a known talent winning a squash over some jobber, often Al Greene or Barry Horowitz.  I sort of hit the middle.  I wanted to focus on the mid-card guys who play a role in the company, but who didn't wrestle during the week, guys like the Misfits in Action, a lot of Cruiserweights, etc.  In fact, I only use wrestlers who didn't wrestle in an actual match on Nitro or Thunder.  Sometimes things work out and a known talent doesn't work a match during the week, leaving him free to be on "Saturday Night."  The Power Plant guys have their home on WCW Worldwide now, so you won't likely see them, and I don't really care for the big "Jobber Squash" matches, so those are gone too.  Here's roughly how the format works... *Every Saturday, I'll post 5 matches that I would have had on WCW Saturday Night.  I've decided to "split the difference," if you will, with WCW.  They want WCW SN to be highlights, so they could have an hour of highlights.  I want WCW SN to be wrestling, so I get an hour of wrestling.  I think there could be 5 matches in an hour, so that's why I picked 5.  I pick the winners and losers.  There won't be any new angles created or anything, because after giving it a lot of thought, I decided that at this point it wouldn't be worth my effort.  At a later date, perhaps.  All you have to do as the reader is read...and think about what might have been had WCW not axed all wrestling from Saturday Night. *Now, reader feedback is very critical to this, so I want to hear it.  Sometimes, I do stuff just because I enjoy it, and it turns out I just have my head up my ass the whole time.  So, if this is the case, send my an e-mail and say..."Hey yo.  Big Poppa Pat.  You've, like, totally got your head up your ass."  However, if you really dig this, let me know too.  I would really appreciate it. *Anyway, that's the "Surprise."  I hope I didn't pull a Bischoff on this one and let everyone down.  Here goes nothing...
