CRACKING THE RATINGS CODE Wrestling TV Ratings: More fun than a weekend with Batman *I know what you're thinking. Another Internet Wrestling Guru is going to break down wrestling ratings. Well, yes, but I think I've stumbled onto something important. With ratings for pro wrestling down a little lately, mostly due to the return to Monday Night Football, I think we need a way to compare the generally higher summer ratings with the slightly lower winter ratings. Enter my mathmatical formula. I have derived the Patcave Ratings Objectivity Formula, or PROF. Let's break it down. We'll use this week's ratings as an example. *STEP ONE: Raw and Nitro go head-to-head for 1 hour. Add the head-to-head hour ratings to get the Total Wrestling Audience (TWA). EX: 5.2 (Raw) + 2.1 (Nitro) = 7.3 *STEP TWO: Divide Nitro's head-to-head hour rating into the TWA number. EX: 2.1 / 7.3 = 28.76% *OK, so it's only 2 steps, but what you're left with is a more universal way of determing ratings values. Instead of 5.2 vs. 2.1, which could mean anything, you have 71.24% vs. 28.76%, trying to reach 100%. A way to have all ratings measured equally. PROF for 03/12/2001 RAW: 72.13% NITRO: 27.87% WCW PROFs TO NOTE LAST WEEK (03/05/01): 31.03% (-3.16%) ONE YEAR AGO (03/13/00): 25.58% (+2.29%) 4/10/2000 (Russo's Return): 31.33% (-3.46%) 3/27/2000 (Sullivan's Exit): 24.42% (+3.45%) Turner's Last Nitro (01/08/01): 28.33% (-0.46%) Fusient Purchases WCW (01/15/01): 29.58% (-1.71%) Fusient's Highest Point (01/29/01): 32.43% (-4.56%) Fusient's Lowest Point (02/26/01): 26.87% (+1.00%) |
