*Eric Bischoff sure has bad timing, doesn't he. He picks the one weekend where A) I'm doing my standard PPV Preview instead of my regular column, and B) I have no time to write an extra column because of last minute details concerning my return to school, to drop one of the biggest bombshells on WCW, and Pro Wrestling as a whole, in quite some time. Thanks, Uncle Eric. But anyway, here's what's up. Since details are still very new about the whole WCW Sale, I'm doing my standard PPV Preview this week as planned, and NEXT week I'll make sure to get down to business on the whole WCW Sale situation. So with that being said, I have a PPV to prevoew... *Before I get started, I have to say that this PPV was incredibly hard to project because there was so little buildup for it, due to scheduling conflicts. Usually when there's proper buildup for a match, you get a feel for who is coming out on top. Sin could be a crap shoot if there ever was one. WCW WORLD TITLE: Scott Steiner (CHAMP) vs. Sid Vicious vs. Jeff Jarrett vs. Mystery Opponent *You can almost pick the winner of this one by the process of elimination. We know Sid's not going to win this match. The same can pretty much be said for Jeff Jarrett. That leaves The Mystery Man, which if it is Rick Steiner like being reported, you know there's no chance in Hell he's going to walk out with the World Title. Of course, Bischoff IS in charge now. Could there be an Orange Goblin under than outfit? I'll still take my chances with Scott Steiner. WINNER: Scott Steiner Goldberg/Sarge vs. Totally Buff *Am I the only one who thinks that Luger roped Bagwell into this match just so Luger wouldn't have to do the job to Goldberg AGAIN? Goldberg survives a few near falls on Sarge, and pins Bagwell to win. Luger runs away, thus avoiding jobbing. WINNER: Goldberg/Sarge WCW TAG TEAM TITLE: The Insiders (CHAMP) vs. The Natural Born Thrillers *So which two Thrillers will be representing the group at Sin? I'm going to go with Stasiak and Jindrak, but I don't think it's going to matter, because I just don't see The Insiders dropping their belts quite yet. Should be a typical Insiders match, with Nash wrestling a minute and a half to start, followed by 10 minutes of DDP busting his ass, concluded by a hot tag to Nash who Powerbombs BOTH Thrillers and scores the pin. WINNER: The Insiders WCW US TITLE: General Rection (CHAMP) vs. The Franchise *Rection got the first match, bu I think The Franchise will get the re-match. It will probably be by some means of heel chicanery, but The Franchise will get his first taste of Singles Gold in WCW (that is, of course, if you don't count the Unofficial TV Title). Franchise wins it. WINNER: The Franchise WCW HARDCORE TITLE: Terry Funk (CHAMP) vs. Crowbar vs. Meng *Good luck figuring this one out. The way it's been hyped it could seriously be anyone's contest. I think I'll play it conservatively and go with the reigning Champ, Terry Funk, to retain his belt and further his feud with Crowbar a little while longer. WINNER: Terry Funk Mike Sanders vs. The Cat *I thought I had this one figured out, until they added the stipulation that Ms. Jones was also on the line. Going against what I was thinking earlier in the week, I'm going with Mike Sanders, leading up to a possible rematch at SuperBrawl Revenge in February. I think some Sanders/Ms. Jones skits could make for some good television. WINNER: Mike Sanders The Filthy Animals vs. Team Canada *This is another difficult match to figure out. On one hand, Team Canada set up the match with THEIR stipulations. But on the other hand, Jim Duggan is the Guest Referee, and we couldn't be setting up for yet another Heel turn, could we? Although I have a feeling that this match will likely end in some sort of No Contest finish, I'll take Team Canada. WINNER: Team Canada WCW CRUISERWEIGHT TITLE: Chavo Guerrero, Jr. vs. Shane Helms *WCW has an interesting Cruiserweight situation. They have a quality Champion in Chavo Guerrero, Jr. who is doing just fine running with the belt. But on the down side, they don't seem to have a worthy challenger to step up and be his main foil. Helms is a great young talent, but it will be Chavo who walks out with the Title. WINNER: Chavo Guerrero, Jr. Big Vito vs. Reno *What seemed to be a promising mid-card feud has sort of fizzled out down the stretch. I like Reno's skills, but I'm taking Vito in this one. I'm sure this match will contain more than its fair share of interference, but when all is said and done, Vito will prevail. WINNER: Big Vito *That does it for this week. Just a reminder that there will be no "Mike Tenay Chronicles" this week. In addition to that, maintenance of The Patcave will be a little spotty in the next few days. I should have a new Saturday Night show up tomorrow, but after that, it might not be until late Monday or even Tuesday before I have a chance to update anything. But don't worry. Once things settle down all shall return to normal. So until next time, keep stylin' and profilin'. THIS RIDE IS OVER Back to The Patcave |
