*This is a very special time for The Patcave, as recently we came across a day that I never thought would happen: The Patcave's First Birthday.

It's amazing to look back and see how much as changed in the past year, both in WCW and here at The Patcave.  I remember why I started The Patcave back on that faithful day in January of 2000.  I had always wished for a way to express my ideas and opinions on WCW to a larger audience than myself and my closest friends, and with WCW embarking on one of their darker ages ever (The Sullivan Era), I thought there would be no better time to launch The Patcave.  The Patcave of a year ago is vastly different than it is today.  For those of you who weren't around at the inception, The Patcave consisted of a week's worth of show reports and "On Top Of Space Mountain."  After about two weeks, the workload of writing three show reports in a week, mixed with the usual load of college work, got to be too much, and The Patcave was reduced to a one trick pony, "On Top Of Space Mountain."

But as the weeks and months went on, new features and columns were added.  March saw my first attempt at booking WCW, an idea that sounded good at the time, but looking back on it now, is something that should be left to the pros.  When the TV Title was ditched by WCW, I thought it would be fun to bring it back at The Patcave.  The same goes for WCW Saturday Night.  And like the proverbial snowball, a few features started to roll and pick up others along the way, like "The Mike Tenay Chronicles", "Cracking the Ratings Code", and "15 Commandments of Flair", which originally started as a joke between friends and turned into one of the features that drew the most feedback.

Yes, a lot as changed in the past year.  So what will the netx year bring for The Patcave?  I'm sure it won't be nearly as productive as this year, but you never can tell.  But one thing's for certain: The Patcave, like most free Internet sites, is powered by the interest of its faithul fan base.  Without visitors, The Patcave would fall into the black hole of anonymity.  So at this time I would like to thank each and every visitor who has ever stumbled across The Patcave, for whatever reason, for it is your past, present, and future support that keeps this site alive.  Thank you.

*It was an above-average week for WCW TV, with Nitro and Thunder turning in solid efforts.  Here's a look at The Week That Was...

*Oh my God.  I'm guessing that was your reaction, as it was mine, when Dusty Rhodes came bumbling and stumbling out to the WCW ring to aide his son Dustin, who was a bit of a surprise himself.  While he did garner an incredible amount of heat, I'm happy this seems to be only a limited-time appearance.  WCW shouldn't sacrifice the long-term payoff its younger wrestlers would give them in exchange for the limited-time cheap heat for established, yet much older, stars.  So while I found a great deal of enjoyment in Dusty's appearance, I hope he doesn't become a recurring character.

*So how about those Cruiserweights?  They have been putting on a show lately.  The 4-way match on Nitro was excellent, and the Kidman/Helms match was also of high quality.  There's only one thing that worries me right now: Kidman seems to have been assuming the role of Sir Jobs-a-Lot lately.  No disrespect to Jaime Knoble or Shane Helms, but the fact that Kidman jobbed to ONE of those guys amazes me, let alone both of them.  Moving him down to the Cruiserweight Division should give him a push, not leave him stagnant like he was in the Heavyweight Division.

*I haven't given out the Goya Award with the frequency I used to, but I've got a big, hot, steamy bowl of Goya with Rick Steiner's name all over it.  This push he's been recieving is so undeserved it's sickening.  I've got a bad feeling he'll be walking out with the US Title at SuperBrawl.  Speaking of undeserved pushes...

*Why does WCW feel the need to throw The Harris Brothers a bone every week on Thunder by letting them beat some mid-carder, via the ol' switch-a-roo?  I know it's only Thunder, but The Harris Brothers shouldn't ever, and I mean EVER, be given the opportunity to beat ANYONE.  Speaking of undeserved victories...

*Kevin Nash should not be allowed to defeat two wrestlers at once, even if one of them IS Luger.  Kevin Nash has a big enough ego.  He doesn't need to go over one of WCW's more prominent Tag Teams.

*Hee hee hee...Glacier.

*That does it for this week.  I'll be back next week with another exciting edition of "On Top Of Space Mountain."  Until next time, keep stylin' and profilin'.
