My lover calls me his hero
        and paints me with wings
                and a crown of gold--
        a man's skill
                with a child's perception.
I am not an angel.

His Baby blue
        hides in my womb
and I will give it wings
        that we may stay children--
                a soul set free,
                a soul forever imprisoned,
a part of me ripped away,
                a part of me
                        impossible to lose.

The blood will spill
        from between my legs
and stain his beautiful canvas--
and he will shield his eyes
        and will not see
and I will try to cleanse the stains
        with my penitent tears.
