Princess
She's a Princess.
            Her beauty is flawless,
                    Her grace is ethereal,
                            Her carriage is regal,
                                    And her modesty is admired
by the peasants in the street.

Her estate is in France
            Surrounded with culture
                        enveloped in wealth
                                cherished by society
made the heroine of a romance,
by the peasants in the street.

She lives in a tower
            with one window,
                    vines climbing the walls,
                                    damp floors,
                                                and musty air
that has never been inhaled
by the peasants in the street.

She's alone
        in a group of admirers,
                     at the king's side,
                           on a Prince's arm,
                                    before her audiences
with the peasants in the street.

She's trapped
        in her country
                in her tower
                        in her role,
misunderstood
by the peasants in the street.
For even they
        have dreams of something great.
But the Princess whom they envy
            is locked away
                    with but one dream:
                                that somewhere
                                there is someone
                                            who holds
                                            a key.
