Elder Council Recruiting/Membership Criteria

TRC Recruiting/Membership

I.    Anyone in TRC may sponsor a candidate for guild membership, provided that the sponsor has been an active member
      of TRC for two months.

II.    A sponsor is responsible for the candidate's actions and should take an active role in the candidate's participation both
        before and after acceptance into the guild, by:
a.    Being sure that the candidate knows and understands TRC rules;
b.    Being sure that the candidate is introduced to other members at guild outings and the message board
       where possible;
c.    Being sure that the candidate is willing to create a role for their character and roleplay with the guild;
d.    Being sure that the candidate is made aware of guild structure [ie. the Council of Elders] as well as where
       to find information on court history, characters, and quests [the website]; and
e.    Being sure that the candidate fully understands the procedure for admittance into the guild, including
       assisting the candidate in compiling the information needed for the Council to decide membership [such
       as other guild affiliations, character names, etc].
III.    To sponsor someone for guild membership, the sponsor should officially inform a Council member in person, or the
         Council as a whole via e-mail, of the candidate's desire to become a member.

IV.    Once sponsored, the candidate will be considered for membership at every official Council meeting, currently every
         two weeks. Three possible decisions regarding membership are possible:

a.    A decision of "Acceptance": the candidate meets our criteria [see below] and is someone we desire in the
       guild. There is no minimum time one must be sponsored before being accepted into the guild, provided
       they meet the criteria set out below.
b.    A decision of "Still Pending": the candidate is not yet known well enough for the Council to render a
       decision at this time; the candidate or sponsor may need to provide additional information [if requested],
       or the candidate may need to spend more time with the guild at outings so that the Council members can
       get to know them. Membership will be reconsidered at the next regular Council meeting. A Candidate
       may be considered for membership until they are: accepted; rejected; or withdraw candidacy either at
       their own or their sponsor's request.
c.    A decision of "Rejected": the candidate is incompatible with guild membership.
V.      Requirements for Sponsorship and Consideration: when seeking membership, the candidate and sponsor are
          required to provide the following information about the Candidate:

          a.    The candidate's other characters: names and guild affiliations.
          b.    Recent history including membership in other guilds, even if the candidate is no longer a member of that guild.
          c.    Past history of candidate with regards to PKing.
          d.    A brief sentence or two on the type of role the person will be playing;
          e.    A statement from the Sponsor that includes information on how the sponsor knows the candidate and for how
                 long.

VI:     Criteria for Membership Consideration: NOTE: no one criteria nor consideration [or lack thereof] will automatically
         disqualify a candidate from membership, but the Council will consider all the following when making their decision:

          a.    The answers to section V above;
          b.    Negative and/or positive experiences with the candidate by members of the Council or TRC, including
                 knowledge of cheating or scamming;
          c.    How well members of the Council "know" the candidate; questions considered will be:
                1.    Has the candidate made the effort to introduce themselves to the court in person and/or via messageboard?
                2.    Has the candidate made the effort to attend TRC guild night and participate in other activities with guild
                       members [such as Allied guild night; smaller group outings, etc].
          d.    Does the candidate have a character bio or description of the character they intend to roleplay?
          e.    When interacting with the group, does the candidate attempt to roleplay, or at the very least avoid "dEwD
                 speak"?
          f.     How well does the candidate know the history and characters of the court?
          g.    Is the candidate a prior member of TRC?
          h.    Is the candidate currently a member of an allied guild?

**NOTE**The candidate need not meet all these criteria to be accepted for membership in TRC; however, the more they meet these criteria, the more quickly they are likely to be accepted into the guild.

VII: Voting: membership is determined by a vote of the five-member Council of Elders. The following rules apply:

a.    All votes are final and are not open to appeal. However, if a candidate receives a vote of "Rejection,"
       they may find a second (additional) sponsor within the guild and ask for admittance a second time. A
       second "Rejection," however, is final.
b.    Votes are by majority rule, save in the following circumstances:

1.    A known ex-PvP type with a questionable history will require a 4-1 or better vote for
       acceptance.
2.    An ex-PK will require a unanimous vote for acceptance by the entire Council.

**Note: The Council of Elders reserves the right to ask candidates to agree to individualized requirements in order to be accepted for membership [such as disassociating themselves from a particular questionable guild]. Those additional requirements, if applicable, we be conveyed to the candidate during sponsorship.
