Comments by Otis Oldfield's daughter, Jayne, February 2003:

"Note how the lithograph, 'Arches of Approach, East' is juxtaposed to the
original finished drawing for transfer to the stone. Please note again that the artist did not reverse the image when drawing on the stone, therefore the final print is in 'mirror' representa-tion. Like postage stamps, the highest prize is to the editions where the 'plane is upside down,' so this example of mirroring is of heightened interest to collecors. It is an 'inside view,' no-where else obtainable, following the artist's hand in the process. If this pair were sold together, the price would have to reflect the extreme rarity."
The original drawing image is 14.5 x 11 inches (approximate)
in pen & brush ink, and ink wash, over charcoal.
It is on Ingres d'Arches, France, laid rag paper, overall measure:
19 x 12.5 inches (approximate). The lithograph is A/P#1,
image size: 14 x 11 inches; overall size: 20.5 x 16 inches.
