The Current Outsiders
The current Outsiders, Nikki Basch-Davis, Warren Dreher, Pam Glover, Ray Jackson, Judy Molyneux, William Rushton, and Jerrold Turner, are seven plein-air painters who paint to be "out" in the world, to feel the energy of nature. They merge paint and canvas with brushstrokes, capturing light and mood. They create paintings full of rich, luscious colors, generous layering paint and capturing vibrant, often dramatic values.
Their name also represents their distinctly different style among more traditional landscape painters. Their bold use of color and loose fauvist style is inspired by early colorists such as the Society of Six, the Bay Area Figurative School, and others who followed. While each in turn has established his or herself as an outstanding artist with individual followings and collectors, as a group they are gaining national recognition. |
