I am sick of all these BAD movies being called "Classics" when they do not deserve even being associated with the word. A bad movie is still a bad movie even if it influenced others. Here are some "classic" movies I think do not deserve the title of "classic".
Phantasm
Carrie
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Halloween
Nightmare On Elm Street
The Star Wars films (all 4)
Any Hammer film
2001
It's A Wonderful Life
The Maltese Falcon
This Island Earth
House On Haunted Hill (50's)
Evil Dead
Most Disney Films
Close Encounters Of The 3rd Kind
E.T.
Batman
Most Stephen King films
Duel
Phantasm-Not only boring but badly made.
Carrie-De palma screwed it up. Lets leave it at that.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre-Bad script, bad acting, amateurish direction ect...
Halloween-Bad script, bad acting, amateurish direction etc...
Nightmare On Elm Street-Dull, overblown and while the script was not all that bad the story was told badly.
The Star Wars films (all 4)-Nothing original outside of the FX. Overblown and not thought out nearly enough.
Any Hammer film-Just re-hashes of Universal monster films but with worse acting.
2001-Near the top of the list of the most dull and boring films ever made. Hell the writer even said the movie is almost all padding. Clarke said in an interview that if Kubrick had just stuck to the story and not padded the film with all those LONG, pointless scenes with the music, that the film would only be about 45 minutes long. Why was that extra hour and a half there? Just to show off FX.
It's A Wonderful Life-To pretentious and too over the top.
The Maltese Falcon-Not nearly as great as everyone seems to think it is.
This Island Earth-BAD script and very flawed plot equal bad film.
House On Haunted Hill (50's)-BORING.
Evil Dead-Just bad on almost every level. This being elevated to the level it has scares me. To think that so many people are just enamoured by such a badly made film is just a disturbing thought.
Most Disney Films-Disney is one of the most vile, evil and worthless corporations yet to force themselves onto the american (and worldwide) public. Pure, suger-coated garbage.
Close Encounters Of The 3rd Kind-BORING and VERY overblown
E.T.-Not a bad film but definitely not a classic film. If it didn't make so much money I don't think it would really be remembered the way it is.
Batman-Tim Burton is a hack of the ultimate degree. End of Story.
Most Stephen King films-Just watch one and you will see what I mean.
Duel-I REALLY don't understand how or why people like this one. There is NO plot, there is NO story, there is NO characterization and it is rife with directing errors. I feel that Duel is the perfect example of a pointless film.
