"If you won't tone it down, we will do it for you" is the message congress and other branches of our government are sending to the entertainment industry and this time I fear they may succeed.
This will go down as one of those failed attempts to strip americans of their freedoms. The people simply will not stand for this.
See, these old whores that vote to subsidize tobacco, vote out welfare and head start, vote FOR capital punishment and start wars for no other reason than it gets the economy up, say that Movies, TV and video games are the sole thing "corrupting" our kids. Maybe what is "corrupting" our kids is the proliferation of profit over decency. Maybe it's an over-zealous use of "discipline" and control, passing for parenting. Maybe it's the fact that money and power is shown and actively taught as a way to achieve respect, maybe these are a small (and I mean small) part of the problem. Maybe religious, blind zealotry passing for parenting is part of the problem. Maybe a corrupt, pandering, deceitful and outright remorseless government is part of the problem. Maybe the problem really lies in the adults and they are looking to scapegoat something to turn the focus off of their misdeeds and onto an easy and frankly defenseless target. Maybe if our officials were not lying windbags only looking to line their own pockets, the real problem today would see the light. Maybe, just maybe the entire "problem" is simply a perceived one and nothing more than ones own righteous indignation standing in the way of cognitive thought.
They say that if the industry (that is the term I will use hence-forth for movies, TV and games) keeps "pedaling" violence to kids they (they being the government) will step in, which would really only give them a legal means to circumvent the first amendment.
Movies, TV, music and games are not the problem. The flagrant self-interest and shear arrogance of our modern society is the problem. Movies, TV, music and games are a diversion from the harsh reality of today's world. The continued and blatant pressure on hollywood by ethically corrupt politicians and special interest groups to take the fall for how things have turned out with today's youth is nothing more than flaccid saber-rattling.
The industry is not to blame for the ignorance of it's mainstream audience. The fact that the industry panders to the lowest denominator says more about it's audience then it does for it's purveyors. Since people get more and more illiterate every year you have to expect the industry to follow what it's audience can handle (which becomes less and less at an alarming rate) and when they can not handle intelligent and sometimes profane, brutal and even "offensive" material than they should have known better than to attempt it. The so called "victims" of the industry are no more victims than they are Martians. To be a victim one must be at the mercy of another, and the industry does not force these rather simplistic films, books, shows, games etc... on anyone. They show you it's out there and from then on it becomes a choice and to take choice away (by any means) is exactly the polar opposite of the foundation of this country (the freedom to do, say, view and read whatever one wants is what you are lead to believe the basis for this country is and that is what I am basing my thoughts here on rather than the real reason we broke from England which to be honest comes as quite of a hypocritical one. Basically a group of slave-owners that demanded freedom revolted because they saw a chance to seize power for themselves, but that is a tirade for another time....)
I am going to fight these fat dollar-sluts in any way I can and I am going to tell them to "suck my dick" as often as I can and in as many ways as I can. You know, all it takes is a SMALL infraction for them to crack down, and once that happens 1984 won't be to far off and despite my many warnings it will take most of you off-guard. Once a government starts, they don't stop. They are just looking for an excuse to push the First Amendment aside in favor of self-indulgence and self-interest and most of all CONTROL.
Fuck them and any that support them. There is nothing wrong with the industry (well besides the fact that 9/10 of it is crap but that is for another discussion). What these fucks in congress fail to grasp is that most of these so called "violent" movies are rated "R" or "NC-17". That means kids can't see them anyway. So where do they get off claiming the industry is pandering to kids? I say get your head out of the next guys lap and actually THINK before you speak (we all know it is just large scale prick waving these people are doing but still, people believe in their elected officials despite the fact that most are as corrupt as a New Orleans cop and as dirty as a New York whore).
If they get the general populace to blame the industry then they think maybe we will fail to notice what a shithole THEY have made this county, all for the lining of their own fat pockets and interests. Stand up for the industry. Don't let the U.S. become oceania (how many of you get that reference)?
Stand up for your freedoms now or you won't get a chance to later. Remember, all it takes is one lone nut (me) to start a revolution.
When will the american government understand that all they are doing by striping americans of even minor freedoms will only result in the same kind of action that the colonists engaged in against england? Will they not be content until we are all hailing "Big Brother" and turning each other in to the thought police? It seems with men like Bush and his ilk getting more and more power that the rights of the individual are being quelled faster and faster (the right to choose and to think are 2 of the ones that they seem most anxious to stomp out). Soon we will have to have ID cards to walk the street and periodic searches of ones belongings and dwellings will become commonplace (ever read The Turner Diaries? Soon it will come to that).
It says in our very own constitution that when a government becomes so corrupt and fails to work properly, that revolution is the only plausible way to really make change. America is teetering dangerously close to that eventuality.
Now I know what I say here will have no real impact and that I am not advocating running out and shooting the governor or something like it , I am saying we must stand up for our rights and hurt them in the best way we can, with our money. Stop endorsing these censorship zealots, let them know you will not stand for your rights being raped. Go to the polls and show them that these kind of actions will not be tolerated and if they continue, they will not be in office any longer.
Power to the fucking people.
