New Scott interview September 7th 2002

How did you get started in the wrestling business?

I've known MSW owner Devin Chittick for quite some years and he asked if I would like to get involved with MSW? I have loved wrestling since I was a kid so I said sure. The rest is history.

What made you want to be a ref?

To be honest I didn't want to be a ref at first, but after thinking about it for awhile I realized
just how important of a role a good ref is to a good show.

Did you ever want to be a wrestler?

Never say never!

Many people feel you look like Arn Anderson, how do you take that comment?

I think it's great. To be  compared to one of the all time greats in the business if even just
looks is an honor.

From a wrestling stand point what’s the best match you ever ref’d?

That is a tough on as there have been so many but I think it would have to be the tripple threat match between JDL, Lincoln Steen and Flexx Falcone for the MSW heavyweight title on April 29th in Kingston when Flexx became the champ. Those three did one hell of a job in my opinon.

Which match do you feel you have done the best with Reffing?

Any match that I take a bump and can still walk afterwards!

If you could ref a match between any two wrestlers past or present, who would it be?

I would love to be in the ring with Hulk Hogan and The Rock.

Which two wrestlers do you enjoy reffing the most? The least?

The most: JDL and Steen! You never know what to expect from these two.
The least: Theres only one and that would have to be Sledgehammer Spike.

Do you expect to go anywhere else to ref? Or are you strictly a Maritime wrestling ref?

If the opportunity arises I would love to go elsewhere. I know that RPW would like for me to head down to Maine and do some work. For now we'll just have to wait and see.

Have you ever ref’ d anything else other than wrestling?

Fights at the mall when I was in security. Does that count?

During the spring of 2002, Lincoln Steen and JDL, both went to R.A.W, How different were the MSW shows with out those two?

I think that the shows were just as good. The rest of the roster picked up the pace and proved that there is alot of talent in MSW.

Who’s better Frank Parker or Arron Beaver?

I have not had the honor of meeting Mr. Parker yet but I have seen him in action. I know that he has been in the business for a lot longer than I have but, with no disrespect to Frank, Arron Beaver.

Where did the “whole ref’n show” come from?

Dec 15th 2001 at the "Fight Before X-mas" show in Sheet Harbour I entered the ring during the opening promo between Commish Chuck Matrix, MSW CEO Devin Chittick and JDL and I informed everyone that I was quitting. Devin tried to talk me out of it and said that everyone knew that I was "The Whole Ref'n Show" and it has just carried on from there.

Your opinion on the WWE show Tough Enough?

I think it's great that people are getting the opportunity to get a WWE contract but I also
believe that there are alot of wrestlers on the indy circut that deserve that chance even more.

Who would you say is the best wrestler you have ever ref’d?

There have been so many but to pick just one I would have to pick Quinson Valentino.
This guy knows this business inside and out. He is very talented and a great teacher for up-and-commers including ref's.

What the worst injury you have seen happen in the ring?

I have been very lucky! I have been in the ring for over 200 matches in just 1 1/2 yrs but have never seen anything serious above a sprained ankle.

You weren’t able to make all the shows on this past tour, with guys like Cypress and Pheonix taking your spot, do you think you have anything to be worried about?

No! I am the MSW senior referee and there is no taking that away from me. I am glad that these guys have been able to fill in when I was not able to be there though.

Your Career highlight so far has been…

Slamming Comish Chuck Matrix to the canvas with "The 3 Count" (a version of the Rock Bottom).

When people say that the MSW wrestlers are “too small” what is your response to that?

Stand in a ring corner and get smashed by Sonny Sorprano and tell me he's small! I think that MSW is starting to get a great asortment of talent both big and small.

Big Brother 3 or American Idol?

Honestly have never watched either.

When and where can we see you in action?

If all goes well I will be at West Hants Rural High on October 10 and in Musquodoboit Harbour on October 24th. Keep an eye on my website www.thewholerefnshow.cjb.net for up to date details.
