“My Penpal”
I can’t really remember a time When I haven’t been writing him. The penpal connection was forged In such a seemingly short time. From a Missouri fifth-grader and a Florida Second-grader letters were sent And continued to be despite postage hikes. Florida changed to California as time went. As time passed, we evolved from the postal mule To e-mail, which allows us to respond In just one day instead of eight. And ICQ yields a way to interactively communicate. Despite all the time that’s gone by And the many things in our lives, My penpal and I still write. This bond between us remains strong As our lives continue to change! Hearing from my penpal makes my day; Especially when my life is going rough. Finding time to write is often tough, But every once in a wile is still okay. Megan Delia Ratcliff 21 June 1999 |
