"Have you been called?" Monday, someone asked, "Have you been called?". No one answered, no one at all. When I heard this, I was appalled. After all, no one even asked what type of call. Tuesday, someone asked, "Have you been called?". A voice responded, "Oh, Yeah! By my boyfriend!". When I heard this, I just sat and bawled. My friend wasn't sure if hearts would mend. Wednesday, someone asked, "Have you been called?" The crowd just gave a soft murmur. When I heard this, I felt like I'd been keelhauled. My friend couldn't believe it wasn't a rumor. Thursday, someone asked, "Have you been called?". "No one's ever called me," came the reply. When I heard this, my heart felt like it'd been mauled. My friend broke down and started to cry. Friday, someone asked, "Have you been called?". Somebody finally ventured to ask, "By whom?". When I heard this, my song couldn't be lulled. My friend no longer sensed impending doom. Saturday, someone asked, "Have you been called?". Replied a few souls, "Yes, but we didn't respond." When I heard this, my soul longed to be overhauled. My friend didn't even try to correspond. Sunday, someone asked, "Have you been called?". I was there and said in a voice really loud, "I've been called by God, and I'm following my call!" My friend, Jesus, was honestly and truly proud. If someone asks, "Have you been called?", How will you respond, I'm wondering. Will you say, "Yes, and I'm following my call!" Or "Yes, but who really cares, I'm not going."? Today, I ask you, ""Have you been called?". Tacked on though is this, "How did you respond?". When I hear your answer, it won't affect me, But my friend, Jesus, cares and wants to hear, "Yes, I'll go!". Megan Delia Ratcliff 29 December 1996 |
