“You and I”
Why can’t it just be us? Can’t you and I be together? There shouldn’t be much fuss. After all, it needn’t be forever. I’m not asking you to stay, Just be around for a while. And if you want, someday, You’ll just be a name in a file. That file’ll stay only in my mind For possibly many a year, Until I can find someone as kind That I can justify calling dear. After all, I’ll never forget What keeps you and I together. Maybe you and I’ll meet once yet And go horseback riding in fields of heather. Megan Delia Ratcliff Spring 1996 |
