St. Ives, a crime writer, becomes a criminal himself when a rich, strange crook named Procane hires him to steal a bribe that some corrupt Americans are playing to a group of Arabs. But this task enmeshes the writer in a web of intrigue involving double-crosses, murders, and duplicitous accomplices.
