DVD RELEASE DATE: November 11th, 2003 (USA)
BOX OFFICE OPENING: $44.0 million (USA)
BOX OFFICE RESULT: $150.3 million* (USA)
BUDGET: $200 million (USA)
SHOOTING DATES: April 2002 -- September 2002
- The $170 million budget is the highest approved budget to date.
- Was originally slated to be shot in Vancouver, BC, but was relocated at the last minute to LA. Speculated reasons for the move was due to rising criticism against American productions being shot in Canada ("runaway productions") and Schwarzenegger's political aspirations, although the official reason is that LA studio space became available at the last minute to accommodate the production.

- In December 2001, the IMDb website reported that Schwarzenegger was going to become the highest upfront paid actor ever, getting a gauranteed pay day of $30 million to reprise his role.
- Director and creator
James Cameron, series actress Linda Hamilton (Sarah Connor) and Terminator 2: Judgement Day co-star Robert Patrick (the T-1000) are among those who will NOT be involved with this sequel.
- Edward Furlong had long been attatched to reprise his role as John Connor from the 1991 sequel, however producers felt that his recent drug problems could put the film at risk and set back production. A replacement is currently being sought.
- In March 2002, C-2 Pictures and Intermedia announced that Stan Winston will reprise his role as animatronic and makeup effects supervisor on this film. Winston won an Academy Award for his work on the 1991 sequel.
- Actress Sophia Bush (
National Lampoon's Van Wilder) was originally set to play the important role of girlfriend Kate Miller before the filmmakers realized that she looked too young for the part. Claire Danes was quickly recast in that role.
- The T-X was originally called the T-1G. At one point, the T-X was going to be a male Terminator.
- The secret production name for the movie was originally "York Square".
- The original tagline of "The War Begins 2003" was removed from all promotional materials due to the political climate of the time, and the war in Iraq. The line was changed to simply "Coming Soon".
- Toyota Motor Corporation provided seven Toyota Tundra trucks to be destroyed in the movie. Toyota will also be selling a limited edition of Toyota Tundra T3 trucks.
-
Arnold Schwarzenegger put up $1.4 million of his salary to ensure that a key scene where a construction crane smashes into a glass building was shot. Director Jonathan Mostow, was apparently worried that the film was going to run behind schedule and over budget.
- In an early draft of the script, Lance Henriksen's character of Detective Vukovich from the original film was to reprise his role, though bound to a wheelchair following the events in that film. The idea was eventually dropped.
John Connor: Judgement Day -- the end of hte world. It's today, three hours from now.
Terminator: Katherine Brewster? Have you sustained injury?
Kate Brewster: Drop dead you asshole!
Terminator: I am unable to comply.
Terminator: No sign of brain trauma.
John Connor: Yeah I'm fine, thanks!
John Connor: Are you shitting me?
No, I am not "shitting you."
[The Terminator is choaking John Connor]
John Connor: What is your mission?
Terminator: To...ensure the survival...of John Connor...and Katherine Brewster.
John Connor: You are about to fail that mission.
John Connor: My destiny was never to stop Judgement Day, it was only to survive it.
Katherine Brewster: Just die you bitch!
Terminator: Your levity is good, it relieves tension and the fear of death.
