BIOGRAPHY
Born on March 9th, 1965 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Brian Bosworth was brash, arrogant, annoying and a total and complete bust as a professional football player. "The Boz", as he is nicknamed by many fans alike, taunted opponents, fans and the NCAA with his headbands, hairstyles and colourful comments in the press. He was also one of the greatest linebackers college football has ever seen with the talent to back up all the bravado. Behind all the gimmicks and all the self-promotion, Bosworth was a tremendous football player with an ability to rise up in the big games and a tackling ability second to none.
Needless to say, Brian Bosworth was a character. He wasn't a "blow them up" type of hitter, but he was in on just about every play making 395 tackles in his three years including a school record 22 in the 1986 classic against Miami. He was the model of consistency and improved each year making 128, 131 and 136 tackles leading the
Sooners in tackles all thre seasons. He was a consensus All-American in 1985 and 1986 and the first ever two-time Butkus Award Winner.
Love him or hate him, few were better at marketing an image than Bosworth. He was also great in the classroom as a GTE/co-SIDA Academic All-American in 1986. Taken in the 1987 supplemental draft by Seattle, Bosworth signed the richest contract in Seahawk history, signing for 10 years for $11 million. He was moved to the weak side, even though Boz had spent his entire career on the strong side to make all the defensive calls. He had his moments, but a shoulder injury forced him to retire after three years.
In 1991, Bosworth turned to Hollywood, where his flamboyant image was good enough to appeal to moviegoers and ultimately appeared in a handful of movies starting with the box office bomb
Stone Cold (1991) and such classic direct-to-video actioners as Virus (1996), Back in Business (1997) and more recently Phase IV (2001) in which he portrayed his first 'bad guy' role. (A majority of this biography was taken from Fox Sports).
