MORGAN'S RATING
COMING SOON
Alek Neuman is an angry Jewish immigrant in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn passing his days as a dishwasher. He spends his nights nursing his bitterness with booze. At one time, Neuman might have been a top prizefighter. But the power brokers in his native, and fiercely atheistic, Russia kept him out of the ring because of his faith. Then Neuman meets two street kids who may have what it takes to make it as boxers, and he offers to coach them.

CRITICAL COMMENTS
"Streets of Gold is a movie that begins with a story that's genuinely interesting. But then it gradually loses confidence and starts to depend on cliches, and by the last 20 minutes it's on automatic pilot." -- Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun Times
