Born in 1961, Simon West began his career in the field of filmmaking by directing numerous and very popular television commercials, such as the Budweiser add with the dancing ants. In 1996, producer Jerry Bruckheimer chose West to make his feature film directorial debut with his 1997 action smash Con Air. Despite the fact it was a disappointment critically, the film earned a respectable box office gross of just over $100 million. He followed that success with 1999's John Travolta thriller The General's Daughter, which received similar reception both critically and financially. West has since reteamed with Bruckheimer as executive producer of his Black Hawk Down project and next jumped into his most difficult directing task yet...Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, based on the immensely popular video game. | ||||||||||||||||
