- Jerry Goldsmith had scored and recorded the music for the movie in late December 2002. When the film had to be reedited, it was discovered that Goldsmith's score no longer fit, and needed to be redone from scratch. Goldsmith was fully booked and unavailable, so Brian Tyler was given the chance to do the music for the movie.
- The battle of Castlegard never took place. But the crew of the movie visited various European castles from around that period (the late 1300s) to make the castles and town look as realistic as possible.
- A group of medieval re-enactors were used for soldiers in battle sequences.
