- In late August 2003, just before shooting was to begin in Montreal, Canada, it was announced that director
Ringo Lam had withdrawn from the project due to 'creative differences'. This was to have been the fourth collaborative effort between Jean-Claude Van Damme and Lam.
- Cess Silvera was announced as Lam's replacement, but he too  was replaced a few weeks later by director Philippe Martinez.
