The Arc Grosse Pointe/Harper Woods Policy Statement
	The Arc is a national, state and local organization which serves the needs of "Individuals with mental retardation and/or other developmental disabilities."  The Grosse Pointe/Harper Woods Arc specifically serves all of the Grosse Pointes and Harper Woods in the State of Michigan. The major purposes of this association are: A.  To assure that citizens with mental retardation and developmental       disabilities are valued and that they can participate fully in, and       contribute to, the life of their community. B.  To further research into and foster understanding of mental retardation       and developmental disabilities. C.  To influence governmental policies and actions on behalf of persons       with mental retardation and developmental disabilities and their       families. D.  To further independence, choice making and self-determination by       persons with mental retardation and developmental disabilities.                                                         Lynn C.
