Rainy Day
Rainy Day

Vocabulary Words: Shapes (arches, circle, triangle, square), Overlap, Parallel Lines

Materials: 12x18" white paper, crayons, sharpies, markers

The example above is a temporary picture of our current project. As soon as the students finish I will replace the graphic with a student's work.

We can always tell Spring has arrived in Kansas by the rain. Students draw themselves in raincoats, carrying umbrellas and standing in a puddle with sharpies. We color these with crayons. Then the fun begins! We draw "rain" on our pictures with markers (washable markers DO NOT work well for this project). Remind students to draw small lines in one direction only. When an adequate amount of "rain" has been drawn dip the artwork in a tub of water. The marker will run, creating the effect of rain!
