| 1998 INK/GUACHE ON PAPER 48.5cmX48.5cm This is a self portrait of my birth as an artist, and pays homage to my influences. The fan and the style are reminiscent of Thea Proctor, and the butterfly and incense symbolise a close friendship that helped to develop my artistic style. The following poem is written around the circumference of the picture. Theasyn was born in a time not an hour. She was a being within her, with power. Power to write, to draw, to create. To give herself the strength to wait. Waiting for ends of each time every hour, She breathed out, in herself for power. |
