| We built our own home in a small village called Rock Valley, 20 mins NW of Lismore, Northern NSW, Australia. The land was given to us by Samuels parents. The property is a community title. We saw an ad. in the Brisbane paper for a free house for demoltion/removal. So we grabbed the chance and pulled it to bits. Literally. We then had all the timber etc trucked 300kms to Lismore. Then Samuel began the herculean task of builing a house. |
| We decided to have a break from building the house and go on a travelling holiday. We had some friends in Darwin NT (3500kms away), so we thought we would go and visit them. We stayed with them for a few weeks before finding some temporary, cheap accomodation. We couldn't but help notice the house for sale next door. It was a government owned house that had been well and truly trashed by the previous tenants. It was ugly and dirty, but we could see it had potential. So we gave in to the temptation and sought out finance to buy it. Then began another episode in our lives. 8 months later, we moved back to Lismore, and rented out this house. In early 2002 we put it up for sale and it sold in March. |

| In 2002 Samuel was offered a great job at Grafton, so we rented a house at a tiny locality called Lower Coldstream. We were really trying to have a break from houses, but , well... I was just searching all the local real estate internet sites, and happened to see a house in need of TLC on 3 acres, with 300m of deep water river frontage. Samuel went and took a look at it the following day and we rang the agent and made an offer that day. A few months later we were now the owners of another house. Amazingly, we were really blessed with finances, and the money from our other two sales has paid a big chunk off this loan. YAY! As yet we havent done much to make it look pretty, but we did a quick fix up of the bathroom, and cleaned up the yard, and put in a decent back fence. Oh I forgot to mention the down side of the place. Its about 8-10 metres from the Highway! But there is a 6 foot timber slab fence which really shelters us a lot. I'll scan more photos in at a later date. |
