ABC Truck Division Reaches 65% Sales Rate In Five Months

Auction Broadcasting Company (ABC), an automobile and truck auction network, recently announced the decision to increase the Truck Division’s Used Truck Auction from monthly to semi-monthly at its Indianapolis location.
The Truck Division, which was implemented only five months ago, has experienced significant growth in its auctions, with sales of more than 65 percent. ABC truck auctions are open to dealers only and include trucks of all makes, from Class 8 semi-tractors down. ABC truck auctions also offer dealer financing, a service that is new to the truck auction industry.
“The fact that our truck auctions are open only to registered dealers is key to the success and significant growth we have seen in a few short months,” stated Chuck Frauhiger, general manager of ABC’s Truck and Equipment Division. “ABC has made a commitment to sell only to dealers, and, largely because of this committment, the dealers have responded very positively to our sales. That’s the reason we’re able to increase our sales to twice a month in such a short period of time, and it’s also the reason we are looking at the possibility of taking our truck sales to other locations within the markets ABC currently serves in the automobile auction arena.”
“I believe the trend for the future in the truck auction business and its continued and growing success rests with stationary auctions being open to dealers only,” continued Frauhiger. “I can’t stress this enough. It will give to new and used truck dealers throughout the country the competitive edge they need to do what they do best – sell used trucks to their customers. I feel this will enhance used truck sales nationwide and will bring unlimited potential for growth to this exciting arena.”
Frauhiger, who joined the ABC staff in November of 2000, is one of the nation’s foremost authorities on used truck auctions, with more than 34 years of experience in the automotive and truck industry. With one of ABC’s founders, Carl Miskotten, Frauhiger started a truck auction in Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 1984, which went on to become the largest truck auction in the world and continues to be extremely successful today. In 1987, Frauhiger and Miskotten opened a second heavy-duty truck auction in Atlanta, Georgia.
In 1990, Frauhiger expanded his expertise to include new truck sales, as he opened Fort Wayne White GMC, later renamed Discover Volvo Trucks. Under Frauhiger’s leadership, the company grew to three dealerships selling Class 8 trucks, along with being named Runner Up Truck Dealer of the Year in 1998.
“Chuck’s vast experience in the retail and wholesale of vehicles and trucks provided the impetus for ABC to establish a Truck Division late last year,” commented Miskotten. “Coming to ABC, Chuck has returned to his first love - the truck auction business. We’re very pleased to have him on board and are thrilled with the initial and growing success of the truck sales to date. We’re looking forward to expanding the Truck Division to include additional locations in the near future.”
