Work in Progress.
So, anyway, I signed up for this nifty little thing known as the
National Novel Writing Month, where folks nation-wide each attempt to
write one honest-to-god novel over the course of the month of
November. The target is a 50,000 word opus (about 175 pages
worth). Seems like a resonable sort of thing to do, at least
after 6 or 7 beers, which is about what I had already consumed when I
signed up.
[Sigh.] "Always do sober what you said you'd do drunk. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut." (Hemingway)
The NaNoWriMo website is here
if you wanted more info on the program, its goals, and how you might be
able to participate, or even to help them out with a monetary donation.
Actually, I've been tossing around ideas for a number of books, so I might as well take this opportunity to actually write one. Or get started on it, anyway. 175 pages would be a good third of the novel I'd like to write, so even if I miss the deadline because my scope was too ambitious, I'll have that much done anyway.
Thank you for checking in on me. While most authors write in
isolation, the goal is to share our work with others. I
think. Why the hell am I writing anyway?
I'll list daily output here, along with word counts. I'll
attempt to write chronologically, but I may switch gears and start
writing chapters in reverse order, if my beginning seems to be
wandering too far from a theoretical ending.
Daily quota: 6 pages, 1650 words, however you want to parse it.
Total so far: 0 pages. But that's o.k., the exercize
hasn't started yet.
