Erik Berkule, a native of New Rochelle, NY, began his career at a very young age, constantly doodling in the margins of every notebook he ever had.  It was one day during a summer internship in an insurance firm in Ithaca, NY, that he started drawing different scenes in each box of a steno pad page.  He liked the drawing so much that he took the page home, colored the scenes in and his art career was born.  Erik continued to draw for the next 4 years, especially while working as a roadie for AC/DC and The Rolling Stones from 1996-1998.  It wasn't until he was asked to join City Art, a San Francisco cooperative, that he began creating works for sale.  Erik spent the next 3 years exhibiting in, promoting and co-owning the cooperative, and then moved to Atlanta in 2001 to attend business school at Emory University.  It was recently that Erik turned inward, to the people and animals he sees everyday, for inspiration.  These works combine Erik's love of vibrant colors, off-set composition and unique individuals.  Each canvas tells a story of a moment in these individuals' lives, whether it be basking in the sun, enjoying a drink or having a laugh.  Erik hopes the viewer sees something of his or her life in these works and connects as much to the story as to the color and composition.  Erik's recent works have been displayed at the Krause Gallery, Club 1150, Radial Cafe, Jupiter Coffee, the Jill Celeste Gallery and the High Museum Wine & Art Auction.

Erik currently resides in Oakhurst with his wife, Stephanie, his son, Lloyd, his two cats, Abbi and Carl, and his dog, Travis.
