My Critters
I can't say I'd recommend a squirrel as a pet in general ... VERY high energy and quite messy ... I would have let Bud go after weaning except somewhere along the way he made friends with our dogs ... And as a result has NO fear of them . Vacuums petrify him but the dogs are nothing . Above he can be seen eyeing the Breyer Horses ... He usually tries to get on the shelves at least once each time he's out ... He likes the Breyer Hanoverians and Stone Ponies best ... You know , the tippiest models . At left he's playing with his toilet paper roll ... He was smaller in that pic than in the one directly above this ... He's full sized now .
Here's Bud ... He is a common old tree squirrel ... Well , common except for the fact that he is tame and lives in my computer/Breyer room . He was an orphan as a baby ... Showed up in the front yard one day and hopped on my dad's shoe . We kept on eye on him to make sure a cat didn't get him or anything and saw a full sized squirrel (mama squirrel?) come down and smell him and leave . She never came back so I decided to try bottle raising the little squirt . He got his name Bud because none of us wanted to get too horribly attached in case he didn't make it ... Bud just came naturally ... as in "Hold on Bud , Food's coming !
On to Winston!
Here's Bud's baby picture ... That would be him as the tiny little ball of brown fluff in the crook of Cullan's elbow . Bud has grown a LOT since then !
UPDATE ! as of july 17th Bud had been released back into the "wild" ... ok my front yard and he is doing well . Several sightings of him , hes easy to spot , the giant squirrel with the pot belly and the extra fluffy tail ! He is happy . :)
