Ents were created by Iluvatar so that all of Yavanna's creations would be protected.  Their just anger over the destruction of living things will be feared by all races.  Ents are dwell in the forests and are also called the Shepards of Trees.        The immortal Ents resemble trees in thier appearance with thier deep green eyes and

barky skin.  They are slow in movement, but can travel great distances without becomming weary due to thier large size.  The Entish tongue is extremely difficult to speak because it is very lengthy and lethargic.  They were taught language by the Elves in the beginning of days.  For that reason, Ents have always been friends with the Elves, even though their races were separated.  Ents, however, are not at all interested in the matters of other races.      The Ents loved the forests and the wild.  This often contradicted with the love that the Entwives had for gardens and tilled earth.  The Entwives eventually moved out of Fangorn Forest, the forest where the Ents lived, and established beautiful gardens.  However, after the rise of Sauron, the Entwives disappeared.  The Ents looked everywhere for the Entwives, but their search was in vein.  Because of the loss of the Entwives, the Ents cannot increase their numbers.       It is said that some of the older Ents that lived in Fangorn became very tired and tree-like.  These Ents are stationary like trees and have great difficulty moving.  Ents have rarely been provoked to anger, yet during the War of the Ring, the fury of the Ents was enough to destroy Isenguard.
