NICOLA BOWERY
M I N T Y
Leigh was dead against having a live band.  He had no rock history - he hadn´t listened to rock music as a teenager and since he had been in London he had really only listened to various forms of dance music.  But richard persuaded him and in a week they put together a band.  Danielle was on bass,  a japanese boy called Honalulu on sampler,  Trevor Shape from Miranda Sex Garden was on drums and Matthew Glammore himself on keyboards.  They had about three rehearsals and then were ready to play at Smashing.
Boy George saw them several times and told Leigh that it was like having your thoughts put into words.  He,  like Anthony  d´Offay,  recognized Leigh´s knack of making people realize their own potential.  ´´ I told Leigh that he´d make a great pop star,  he said ´´thank you ´´ in the very snooty voice of his and looked down his nose at me´´  Although Leigh acted cool in front of George he was really thrilled with his encoutagement and he began to think that this time he really would make it
