6/27/03-- Awesome news. This site is gonna be toast soon. Chuck has been kind enough to lend me some server space to bulid a new site. Faster, stronger, and with 60% more stain fighting power! The mp3s are now hosted on the server, which means no more stupid mp3.com crap. And so far the site looks awesome. So check it out. There's not much there but there will be soon. Mwahahahahaha. In other news, Mike's friend Mike is joining the 'Fridays. Ideally he'll play bass, but we'll have to see how it goes. First practice session is scheduled for next week. We're going to try a couple covers before launching into my stuff. Gary, incidentally, is out of the band, due to a conflict in interest. The way I said that made it sound more serious than it is; in reality, he just doesn't like indie rock. 6/24/03-- Good news, all. We've found a drummer. Name's Mike also known to some as "Cliff" or "Cliff-dog" or some variation of those. We'll be getting together sometime this weekend to record and play some. Hopefully some kinda mp3 will come out of it. With a full band we can now (in theory) play shows. Anyone want to book us? In other news, The Casual Fridays are number 21 on the Worcester County mp3.com charts out of about 300 songs. I think that stands as progress. So, some people have asked me, "Mateo, my main man, how can I support the greatness that is The Casual Fridays?" and I reply, "My son, you must listen to our songs on mp3.com, and give us plays. Then, when out CD is released on July 15th, you must purchase it. And if we have a show...you must come." 6/17/03-- "The Ballad of Bobby Brown" is now uploaded on mp3.com. I suggest you all listen to it now. It may be the best song I ever write. Or the worst, depends on your opinion. Either way, check it out. You won't be sorry. Videos will commence filming this week. They will come with the CD if you pick it up.....which you should. Rock on as always. 5/29/2003-- Thanks largely to Chuck Gammal's playing it an AP Chem class, the Basement EP has become the sleeper hit of the year at school! It's overordered its print run of seven copies. I have three backorders for more. The most popular song is "Bebop Bellhop", ironically. Or maybe not. More songs have been recorded for the album. It has a release date of July 17. Email us now with preorders. All people who preorder get it FREE. After the 21st it will be a paltry $5.00. 5/13/2003-- Two new tracks from our new album are available on mp3.com, which is currently the only place that will host me. It won't let me link from anywhere else, however, which makes me angry, but waddaya gonna do? It's free, and beggars can't be selective. Or something. More on the album in the album section. Also, plans for MUSIC VIDEOS are in the works, three of them, through a collaboration with a friend of mine named Nessa who likes to make movies. Because making cakes has nothing to do with music videos. The videos will be included on the CD intself in mpeg form as a kind of multimedia extravaganza. The idea is since the album is going to be pretty short (I'm thinking thirty-five minutes), I'll load the remiander of the CD chock full of stories, drawings (I'm also a cartoonist), photos and of course the videos. The Casual Fridays: it's more than just a band; it's a state of mind. There should also be an updated Bios section. 5/1--Happy may all. Some new things afloat. I have begun recording my new album, tentatively titled "Schitzophrenia" [sic]. So far I've got "Her Silver Chalice done, as well as two new songs, the punk-rocker "That's My Bag" and a solemn tune called "ghost town by the sea" which uses words written by jandek. I wrote the music, however. Kid Icarus links to our site on his new page! We feel special. Or maybe it's just 'cause we covered his song. no matter. click casual links to see his new site. 4/14--Brian got rid of our web domian. It makes me angry. Poo. [turns out he actually didn't. the host did- Dan] I recorded "War Dance" this weekend. It's frightening. I love it of course.....new things coming. rock on everyone. |
