As of Magna Faire, Seth & Kathleen had not received any bids for events during their reign.  RUM was discussed as was a few Crown Lists.

Sewing Circles are running.  Check the calendar for rotations as to who’s hosting it which week.  This is NOT an official baronial activity.  Just a bunch of ladies have opened their home to those of us without access to sewing machines.

Greetings fellow Nichers!

Since this is my first letter, it’s a tad long, but please bear with me because a lot of it needs to e announced. As many do or do not know, I’ve taken over the position as Baronial Chatelaine. I currently have one deputy, Maggie, but if anyone is interested I don’t mind taking on more! The more the merrier, isn’t that what they say? Just ask me and I’ll let you know what the job entails.

            Now, I have many ideas that I’m wanting to try, and I’m always open to suggestions. One thing that I’m planning on doing is creating a “GreyWill?donation Center at every home event. (Get it? GreyWill/GoodWill?) So if you’re going through your garb and find something you’d like to donate, just deposit it there! And it doesn’t have to be just garb! Fabric, accessories, feast gear are all welcome. If you don’t have supplies but wouldn’t mind sewing up some garb out of donated materials, just let me know.

            Another thing that I would like to see done before our next event is the making of some “New Comer" medallions. These would be re-usable so we’re not talking the making of WHOLE LOTS! Maybe 10-20 medallions should suffice. Anyone who has ideas for design and/or making of these please come see me.

            A suggestion that what mentioned was the making of some bookmarks with the Baronial & Contact info on them and leaving them at the Libraries. Also we could make some flyers and leave the there as well.

            A Ride Share program would be nice to start as well?with many of the younger members who can’t drive or don’t have vehicles, I’m wanting to see if we can get a list of people who are willing to give rides to people so that we know who to contact when someone asks for a ride.

            Also, throughout the year I’m going to be teaching more of the New Comer Classes and possibly again my “New Comers for Non-New Comers?class, especially since it went so well last time.

            I’ve got a lot more ideas floating around in my head, but if I were to go through them all I’d be writing for two days straight and have a book by the time I was done.

Greetings from your local Chronicler.  Since I am in school along with working full time I depend on people telling me what is going on around da niche.  Please pass along tidbits that need to be posted.  I’m trying to relay the pertinent information that occurred during meetings in the Clouded Issue.  Please let me know if I miss something that needs to be communicated.  Also the date for submission is the 15^th of the month before the issue.  Hence deadline for the March Clouded Issue is February 15^th.  I take submission either in person or via email.  My email address is tanya404@earthlink.net .

Greetings from your local MOC, 

    The new year always brings promise.  I look forward to the many adventures that it will surely bring.  At the time this letter was being written, I was looking forward to Winter Wonders.  They were holding their first MOC symposium.  I will let you know of some of the exciting ideas that were shared in the next letter.

Reeve reports that we lost money this year.  Herald reports that he is still trying to procure files from the former herald. Marshal reports that he is holding a contest at fighter practice on Jan. 28^th. Anyone that can win against him 3 out of 5 bouts he will buy you your choice of beverage at Garibaldi’s afterward (it’s a ploy to get people out to fighter practice).  Baroness announced that Three Rivers (one of the 3 baronies trying to make war with us) has a site for the war the third weekend of September this year.  They called to check to see if it would be cool with us.  Dance practice has resumed. Come to it!!!!  Historian says “I’m creating it as we speak.?And “If you want to know, come see me, I’ll tell you a story.?#060;span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  The Grey Niche Foot of Justice made an appearance on the marker board in the room.  Padruig saw a Woodsman of the World Camp in Martin, TN.  He asked the group would they be interested in a secondary site if he scoped it out for us. Group basically said check it out and then we’ll see.  Baroness announced that the Baroness of Small Grey Bear talked to her about a SGB/Niche party one night at Gulf Wars (Your dear Chronicler forgot to write down if this was Fri or Sat night).  Most of the populace was amicable it. Baroness announced that she would like to have baronial banners made (possibility was discussed of doing some kingdom & principality ones too).  Katherine of Lindsey announced that if the subscriptions to the Ambassador were increased by 50 subscriptions then His (then) Excellency Viscount Michael of the Mace would wear a dress at the Spring Coronet List Ball (Thank you Brenna for volunteering him).

Candlemas:  COME TO IT!!!!! And please stay for feast.  We realize that several people have to work weekends, but we would really HATE to be shown up by those people coming from Small Grey Bear and other out of towners for this small local one-day event! We need people to set up pavilions on campus Friday night. Please email Jennet if you can help.  Bearkiller asks that ALL fighters who can BE THERE.  There will be a Pas and a class on the art of the Pas by THL Brandr from SGB. Please make an effort to participate in this form of armored combat.  There will also be space for pickup fights.

Beltane: 3 events in one!  Principality/Principality Fighter’s Collegium/Herbal Guild Collegium; Maestro Damiano is teaching a class on period games (the original theme of the event).  Please contact the autocrat at zadavat@aol.com or the phone # listed in the regnum for Caedmon. There will be 5 meals served at this event.  Vashti was present at the trial feast and she said the food was very good.

Purpose of curia is to read & discuss baronial policy.  If you need a copy email Arielle.  Her email address is Arielle@pobox.com. To change policy we have to have discussion for 2 business meetings and then printed in the Clouded Issue once passed. Something to think about is discussion on a policy of discussion over email listserves (e.g. egroups).  For now use common sense, people from other groups are on these lists listening.  The group can appoint a committee to research and address a problem and present findings at a business meeting as needed.  Expenditures below $50 have to be approved by BOTH Seneschal & Reeve.  Expenditures over $50 need to be voted on by the group.  Officers and/or their deputy need to attend AT LEAST 2 meeting per month (unofficial policy is at least 1 of them be a business meeting so that we know you’re alive & doing your office).  The possibilities of forming a committee reviewing policy for autocrats & feastacrats came up.  Responsibilities for autocrats that are currently in policy are: Autocrat or deputy must attend business meeting, must present flyer to the group, responsible for reservations, cabin assignments, troll staff & to make sure someone has locked up the money when troll closes.  Baronial succession was also read.
