Myrtle Beach 2007 is in the books and will go down in history as one of the best. The stories and stuff we laughed about this year were great and probably have never been better. The travel plans seemed ideal, although probably best for those whose flights were not canceled. The Love Shack would have been cool, but the brand new condo rated at the top of virtually everyone's list. For the time we spent in it, the hot tub was good. For the cooking we did on it, the grill was fine. For the time we spent gaming, the arcade was great. The Texas Hold'em Tournament was fun and endlessly entertaining. I wish I had bought a pair of Ecco shoes like Richie's. I still can't believe that giant 1.75 L bottle of Gentleman Jack was gone on Friday evening. I wish I could have eaten more of Tom's Ro-Tel, but I really enjoyed my four plates full of fresh seafood at Bennett's.

Myrtle Beach 2007 featured four fantastic courses including Glen Dornoch which was widely cited as the best course we've ever played. Heck, I'd vote to play Glen Dornoch every year. Of course my ranking system is heavily biased toward the visual aspects of the course and the marsh-side location scored huge points. Here are the results.
1. Scott K (18):72+72+83+92=299, +13, $82
2. Richard (19): 78+67+83+81=309, +23, $90
3. Jeff Mc (12): 72+81+89+67=309, +23, $65
4. John K (12): 75+77+83+76=311, +25, $53
5. Steve H (9): 81+81+78+81=321, +35, $44
6. Tom K (15): 82+79+75+81=327, +41, $36
7. Vince R (14): 88+81+85+81=335, +49, $14
8. Scott B (12): 80+81+89+83=336, +50, $18

The elegant Duffy Street Seafood ShackWe've talked for years about organizing a barbeque and 2007 may be the year. Among the highlights will be the CMGC debut of Tom's Own Barbeque Sauce. Other dining staples like the Mexican Place or an Oyster Po'Boy at near by Duffy Street Seafood Shack are sure to make the agenda. What is your favorite Myrtle Beach memory? There have been so many great ones. Who can forget highlights like Richard's Clammy, the Elevator Incident, Vince and Steve's Gentleman Jack flask, Meatloaf, Pete Rose in the hot tub, Vince hitting the greens keeper, Scott K's broken rib, The Oyster Incident, Jeff and Scott B's gamble, freezing rain and the Dawg at the Granddaddy, JO buying a new set of King Cobras at Martins, $25 horst nipples and Zee Really Big Show at the Horst Gasthaus, Tom and John sumo wrestling on the couch, Scott picking up the tab at Toby's, The Marina, the clam demonstration at the Sea Fare, Vince and John's ride home in the Yugo and "visibility zero, confidence is low." The Love Shack has 8 bedrooms, so the Roommates Tournament takes on a new light. Instead of actual roommates, Everyone Is A Diamond will be used to establish the teams. Heathland at the Legends complex will host our opening tournament. What better way to kick off the MB07 Tour than with the melodic bagpipe tones wafting across the moor? The Roommates Tournament will follow the 12 Pack win the cash, drink the trash format, so bring your best game.

MB06 ended early thanks to a frost delay, but that left us with a nine hole raincheck. We will use that nine hole raincheck this year to stretch the second round at perennial favorite Oyster Bay into a 27 hole match play tournament. Oyster Bay consistently ranks in the top few courses among CMGC members. Our tournaments have traditionally paid only the winner, but this event will pay both players in the final match; first place will be worth $30 and second will be $10.

The TPC of Myrtle Beach has always been a steep surcharge, but Jeff managed to cajole the Tournament Director and get the TPC on the 2007 rota. Where PGA Tour Professionals play says the TPC website. In 2007 it's where CMGC members play too. This Tom Fazio course has no blind shots, but look forward to a few forced carries. I know I am. This will be the first "no repeat winners" round, so you can also look forward to a re-draw for your partner.

The MB07 Tour ends at Glen Dornoch, called a shotmaker's course by Golf Digest. Keep the ball in play and you'll do well here. The match play event on day two is our individual event for MB07, so the only structure this day will be a regular best ball Everyone Is A Diamond.
