| **Note: It has been awhile since I saw this so I did the best I can at recalling this series.** Synopsis One of the better series I've seen so far. It's along the same lines as Cold Blood Warm Heart, Greed of Man, Secret of the Heart, etc. The stars in this are Adam Cheng, Ekin Cheng, Roger Kwok, Nadia Chan, and Amy Kwok. Adam plays a wealthy businessman who is estranged from his oldest daughter Amy. Ekin and Roger are best friends and Roger lives with Ekin's family ever since he was little because Roger's father is in jail. Roger's father and Ekin's father were close friends and business partners. Something happened to their business and Roger's father decided to take the blame for it and go to jail cause Ekin's family needed Ekin's father more. Thus, Roger hates his father for being so nice and to go to jail for something he didn't do. He always hates his father for leaving him. Roger is a very ambitious man. He is always looking for a better opportunity to make more money and become rich. Ekin, on the other hand, is satisfied with his lot in life. Family and friends are more important to him than money. Somehow, Ekin meets Adam and helped Adam out of some dilemma. Adam admires this young man very much and offered him a job. To help his family out by making more money, Ekin agrees. When Roger found out, he was jealous and asked Ekin to get him a job in Adam's company too. They both ended up working for Adam in the stocks department. Each of them is in charge of certain stocks and has to watch them closely each day. They have the freedom to buy and sell as long as they make money for the company. Nadia is a happy-go-lucky girl. Somehow, she meets Ekin and they start dating. Then Ekin meets Amy and Amy starts falling for Ekin. When Roger finds out that Amy is Adam's daughter, he dumps his current girlfriend so he can date Amy. But Amy only has eyes for Ekin. Thus, a love triangle is created with Ekin, Nadia, and Amy. Roger's father is let out of jail so he moves in with Ekin's family. He shares a room with Roger but Roger is hardly ever home. He worries for his son cause he can see how ambitious Roger is and he's afraid that Roger will turn bad. He also blames himself for not being there for Roger. He thinks it is because of this that caused Roger to be the way he is. Roger is slowly getting to hate his friends who seemed to have everything. Roger has a better education than Ekin but somehow, Ekin is the one who gets all the opportunities. Ekin has Adam's trust, Amy's adoration, and even his own father seems to like Ekin more than his own son. He decides to move out of the house and invited his father to live with him. Roger also asks for a transfer so he won't have to compete with Ekin anymore. Nadia moves in with Ekin's family because something happened (I can't remember what!) and that increases the strength in their relationship. Ekin eventually proposes to Nadia and she accepts happily. Unfortunately, Amy is devastated by this news and runs crying to her father. Being an indulgent parent, Adam asks Ekin to pretend to date Amy. Ekin reluctantly agree. But in the end, the truth comes out and Amy hated Adam and Ekin for what they did. She decides to leave. Adam and Roger's father are old friends. When Roger's father found out that Roger is embezzling from the company, he begs his friend to help his son out. Adam agrees on the condition that Roger doesn't do it again (either that or he gets kicked out of the company. I can't remember which). Roger agrees tearfully, promising to never do it again. Alas, he can't resist the power of money and does something bad once again. In order to get rid of the evidence that can incriminate him, he decides to set Ekin's house on fire (the evidence was in Ekin's house). But what he didn't know is that a sick Nadia is sleeping inside the house. Due to her medication, she didn't wake up when Roger was checking to see if anyone was inside the house. Roger's father forgot something at Ekin's house so he goes back. On his way up the stairs, he bumps into his son. Then Roger's father sees smoke and a big fire coming out of Ekin's house. He angrily asks his son if he set the fire. Roger, in a panic, says he has no choice. He was afraid that his father was going to go to the police so he knocks his father unconscious in the head. Roger leaves without seeing if his father was al right. Nadia suffers major burns and is in critical condition. At the hospital, Ekin takes out a ring and places it on Nadia's finger saying that she will always be his wife. Nadia dies. (This part is very very sad!) Roger's father survives but is in a coma (I think?). As to what happens to Roger, I can't seem to remember. At the very end, Ekin is at an old school and Amy shows up offering comfort but now, they're just friends because Ekin's heart will always belong to Nadia. The End. Ratings: $$$$ |
