Synopsis Starring Gallen Law, Charmaine Sheh, Kong Wah, Anne Heung, and Florence Kwok. Set in the Hong Kong 1940’s (I think), Anne is from a well-off family who fell in love with Kong Wah, who writes operas for a living thus, deemed not acceptable. Anne’s family wants to marry her off with another rich family to save their business but Anne refuse by jumping into the ocean. Kong Wah was supposed to die with her but he chicken out at the last minute, thus Anne became a ghost wandering around for years searching for her love. Kong Wah ends up with amnesia and later marries Florence. Florence’s niece, Charmaine and Gallen meet Anne in the street and after listening to her sad story, agreed to help Anne find her lover. After finding out that Kong Wah is now happily married, Anne agrees to leave and reincarnate but has difficulties leaving the earth due to minor problems. Kong Wah wants to remember his past so he goes and visit with Anne often as she tells him of their life together. Florence becomes increasingly jealous and tries to have Anne’s spirit kill many many times. Kong Wah starts to remember more and more and asks Anne to take him back to the theater where they fell in love. Florence, who is by now pissed off that she is losing her husband to a ghost, decides to burn the theater, not knowing that her beloved husband is inside. When Florence does realize that Kong Wah is inside the burning building, she rushes in to save him. Kong Wah, weaken by smoke, tells Anne to leave so that she will have a chance to reincarnate, finally remembers all the times they shared. Florence comes in time to save him and decides to accept Anne as Kong Wah’s first wife. Anne finally leaves to reincarnate…or does she? After a couple of obstacles, like the fact that she is rich and he is not, Charmaine and Gallen falls in love and the two plan to marry only to have Charmaine diagnosis with cancer. In the end, even true love cannot save Charmaine as she dies, leaving Gallen alone with his memories. Personal note: I was totally excited to see this series from watching the trailer. I thought it would be an exciting ghost story regarding seven sisters but noooooo, TVB has to ruin it by making this a boring love story. The title “Seven Sisters” refers to a street in HK and that just makes this entire series more ridiculous. The only character I liked in here was Florence’s character. Why? Because the actress that played her was wonderful. She wasn’t a mean woman, she just got caught up in the whole jealous and insecure thing. She knows that Kong Wah loved Anne very very much. She’s just afraid to lose her husband to a ghost…to a ghost mind you. What woman wouldn’t go crazy? Too bad Florence quit the entertainment industry, she was a good actress and I will miss her acting. First Marianne leaves, then Florence, who next? Louisa?! And what is up with the whole Gallen/Charmaine pairing? What brilliant TVB executive thought that was a good idea? They need to be fired! But I do have to say that Kong Wah and Anne do have chemistry and that Legend of Lady Yang wasn’t just a fluke. Rating: $$ |
