| Synopsis Bowie Lam, Yoyo Mung, Stephan Fung, Joey Yung, Cathy Tsui and Melissa Ng head the cast of this refreshing series. Bowie and Stephan are brothers who were separated at a young age due to their parents' divorce. Bowie ends up living with his dad while Stephan lived with his mother. When they finally get the chance to meet again, Bowie is a big hotshot architect married to Melissa. Stephan works in a law firm as an errand boy. Soon, some horrible traumatic events caused Stephan to become mentally unstable once again. When his co-workers found out, they made fun of Stephan and treated him differently. Bowie finds out how Stephan's difficult childhood led him to this illness. Their mother is a drug addict and forced a very young Stephan to steal, lie and cheat so she can buy drugs. One time, Stephan was caught and the man beat up Stephan real bad and caused head injuries. Later on, Stephan was able to recover and lived a normal life only to have his mother trigger his illness once again when she stole the money he had saved up for his life-long dream which is to go to music school. Bowie decides to help his brother and took him to his house to live so he can take care of Stephan. This caused Bowie's marriage to fail when Melissa is afraid of Stephan's illness. Bowie also gives up his job to stay in Hong Kong to take care of his brother. Yoyo works for Bowie in the architecture firm. Her grandmother has Alzheimer disease and Yoyo is the only one that takes care of her. Yoyo's older sister is dating Joey's older brother who is a scrum bag. When Bowie quit, Yoyo followed him because the new boss treats her badly. Cathy is a rich girl who has a bad habit of stealing things. Her stealing is a result of a lonely childhood and it first started as a way of getting her parents' attention. She meets Stephan and falls for him. They start to date even though Stephan really likes Joey but feels that Cathy needs him more. At the end, Cathy dies of cancer. Joey is a happy-go-lucky kinda girl. She's always smiling and doesn't seem to have a care in the world. She bumps into Stephan on the street and feels attracted to him. She secretly listens and tapes his music to write lyrics to it. She does a lot of things for Stephan but time and time again, he ends up hurting her. After Bowie quit his job. He decided to start his own dot com company with Yoyo as his assistant. It becomes a success. Bowie divorces Melissa and starts dating Yoyo. Stephan gets well and learns how to play the piano from a master. He later becomes a very famous musician and marries Joey. Bowie starts a company with two partners and marries Yoyo. Yoyo's grandmother dies after seeing how happy her granddaughter is with Bowie. To me, this series is a wonderful series despite the unknown cast. The only familiar face for viewers is Bowie's (and maybe Melissa's) so he has a difficult job of leading this entire series. Luckily for him, there are some wonderful support from Yoyo and Stephan. This was the first time I have seen both of them and I must say that there is a lot of potential here. Same for Cathy who portrayed the spoil rich girl perfectly. At first you hate her for all her scheming and meanness, but in the end, you feel sorry for her because you know that she doesn't really mean to be like that at all. Some interesting news: Yoyo will be in the new Healing Hands II who will get between Lawrence and Ada's relationship. This series is airing in Hong Kong right now and is receiving the lowest rating that TVB has seen this year (24 points)! In an interview with a radio talk show, Bowie explains that the reason may be because of the new fresh cast which TV viewers do not recognize hence, generating no interest. But he has heard that overseas viewers are very happy with the series and has received some really positive feedback. He hopes the TV viewers will give the series a chance because it does have a very important message to tell. Also, the main themesong is written by Stephan himself! Rating: $$$$ |
