Celtic Shanty Music
The
term "CROOKED HORN" refers to the top part of a moonshine still
Bob
McGinnis’ Irish heritage
and Frank Guertin’s Franco-Native
origins make them the brewmasters of the most unique sound of
"Toe
tapping, knee slapping, hand clapping, jump-up-on-the-table, good-time
FUN"
Their
show combines the best of Traditional Celtic music with their own
OntarioShanty
Style,
infusing
them with an energy that becomes contagious....
The
duo are now touring with a full band sound thanks to the awesome
addition of Johnny Lalonde.. on drums
and
the bass/vocal sounds of James McKinnon..
Crooked
Horn’s Original songs address all aspects of one’s personality.
The
lyrics were inspired by the McGinnis Homestead
(between
the villages of Fallbrook and Maberly in Lanark County)
Bobbie
draws on his memories of Fallbrook and it’s rural life, both past and present.
Contrast plays an important part in the music which exalts the serenity
of the
meadows,
trees, brooks and the chaotic energy of hoe-downs on hardwood floors in
winter.
With
lyrics as true now as they would have been
100
yrs. ago,
Crooked
Horn’s music embodies something that exists
outside
the boundaries of time.
