| Woodhouse Grange Cricket Club Diamond Jubilee - Sporting Dinner |
| 2002 will be the 60th anniversary of the founding of Woodhouse Grange Cricket Club, by Thomas Hobson. It is planned to celebrate this feat by holding a number of events throughout the year. The celebrations will begin with a Sporting Dinner, which will be held at the York Viking Moat House on Sunday 24th February, 5pm for 6pm. We are hoping that 250 people will attend. The speakers will be Richard Hutton and David Kendall. Richard, the former England and Yorkshire cricketer, is the son of the great Yorkshire and England batsman Sir Leonard Hutton. David Kendall used to be Bank Manager to WGCC. He is now retired, but is well sought after in his second career as an After-dinner speaker. David speaks regularly at events all around the country. Both men promise to be very entertaining. It is planned to hold an auction and raffle during the evening. As this event will replace the Annual Dinner, the Club Person of the Year award will be presented; who will replace Peter and Val Nolton? Tickets are priced at £25 each. Tables each seat 10. The dress code is Lounge suit/Blazer. Anyone wishing to attend this event should contact the Honourable Dinner Secretary, Alasdair Swann, on (01904) 410689 as soon as possible. Various items of memorabilia are being produced to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee. These include a brochure, ties and sweatshirts. All will be available at the Sporting Dinner |
