28 Then the LORD opened the mouth of the donkey, and she said to Balaam, "What have I done to you, that you have struck me these three times?"

The Problem
A talking donkey is absurd, rendering the Bible a mere fable.

The Answer
The Bible could not be more clear: God miraculously gave the donkey the ability to speak. Why? Most likely to further humble Balaam, for the donkey was already wiser than he---turning away from the angel of the Lord who blocked the pathway as a notice of God's displeasure. Concerning fables, the dictionary definition of the Middle English word "fable" states that a fable may contain talking animals, but this does not prove that Genesis is a fable. A cat isn't a dog simply because it has a tail.
