| Destiny's Child was formed by Beyonce Knowless, Kelly Rowland, LeToya Luckett & LaTavia Roberson. Beyonce & LaTavia started singing together first when they were only 10 years old. Kelly joined the girls in 1992 with LeToya joining the girl the year after Destiny's Child was formed. The quartet adopted their biblically inspired name from a chapter in the book of Isaiah. Beyonce's dad became the manager of the group and set about grooming the quartet for success. They gained a strong local following with their street cool image and impressice vocal harmonies, leading to opening slots for big name acts as Immature, SWV, Dru Hill. Signed to columbia records in 1997, their breakthrough came with Killing Time. The song appeared on the 'Man in Black' soundtrack. Their self-tittled debut album, released in 1998, featured collaborations with leading RnB/hip hop producers as Timbaland, Wycleaf Jean and Missy Elliot The funky 'No No No' reached the top 10 in the US and the UK. the song was followed by songs as With Me, get on the bus. The album 'The Writings On The Wall' premiered with the song Bills Bills Bills, a track wich echoed the man-bashing sentiments of TLC's massive summer hit: No scrubs. The song provided the quartet with their first US chart topper in July, 1999 and also reached the UK top 10. In Februarie 2000, 2 members of the group were replaced by Farrah Franklin and Michelle Williams. They replaced LeToya and LaTavia. A month later the group topped the US HOT top 100 with 'Say My Name'3 Despite ongoing problems, with Farrah Franklin leaving in August, the group enjoyed further transatlantic hits as Jumpin Jumpin & INDEPENDANT WOMAN part 1. The later, taken from the Charlie's angels soundtrack, topped the US chart for an incredible 11 weeks!!! For now, their latest album 'Survivor' went 3x PLATINUM, July 2. Beyonce played in a hip hop opera and did her first acting role in 'Goldmember. Her new movie The fighting Temptations will be out in September. Kelly's movie is out soon as well.
