Queer As Folk: The Final Season
soundtrack
Showtime/Tommy Boy/FMR

Rating: 61%

There was a time not that long ago that the soundtrack to Queer As Folk was filled with dance floor stompers and little in between. Now in its last season, like evah…my, how things have changed.

They’re certainly still there, but much like the show there’s layers to the final Queer As Folk soundtrack that weren’t there on previous releases, complete with some odd choices like jazz stunner Madelaine Peyroux and shock artiste Marilyn Manson cropping up from time to time.

It all gets off to a disco stomping beginning with Scissor Sisters’ “Skins”, while the Charlatans (UK) add something baggy. PJ Harvey (with Thom Yorke on board as guest vocalist) stuns with the mesmerising “This Mess We’re In”, while Superpitcher do some mighty strange things indeed to “Fever”. It all comes to a close with two exclusive remixes – first Cyndi Launder’s “Shine” then Heather Small’s “Proud”. How appropriate.
