The Chaos Queen

Chapter 1: The Beginning of a New Era

Her name is unknown, and so is her past. Only a few know of her past, but they are slaves, and people do not listen to their slaves.

She was born a slave and lived with her mother in the slave’s quarters. She had short black hair and dark brown eyes. Her master was a tyrant. He would beat the slaves daily, unless you were one of his minions. They were also his slaves, but they ranked higher than the others. They would do his bidding even if it means doing inhuman acts of violence.

Over the years she and her mother had been persecuted because of being a slave. When her mother needed to go to the market to fetch things that the master wanted, people would throw stones at her and called her and her mother "whores." Through the years she had hated all humanity, she felt she could never trust them.

When she turned 5 the master sent for her and her mother. He wanted to make her a minion of his because on a recent raid he had lost many men, and even though he didn’t like having females as warriors he had no other choice. Just as he was about to take her away, her mother attacked him. She cried out, "No, not my baby! You will never make her one of your barbarians! I won’t let you!"

He took out his sword and chopped off her head. The girl just stood there as she saw her mother’s head roll across the floor. He looked at her with an evil grin and ordered her to pick he head up. She hesitated and then shook her head. He ordered her again and this time threatened to kill every slave he owned unless she did as she was ordered to do. The girl picked up the head and looked at her mother’s lifeless eyes.

"Now," he said, "crush IT!"

He handed her a wooden stick. She carefully placed the head on the floor and, with all her strength, crushed her mother’s skull.

11 years later

During the past several years she had been trained to kill. She was considered the most powerful swordsmen in the world. Her master had placed her in charge of many raids and was always pleased with the results. He had given her the name of "Chaos Queen" for there is a saying, "Cross the path of chaos and you shall cross the path of death."

As her strength grew he knew that one-day she would overpower him and eventually kill him. He never wanted to see this happen. One day he gave her an opportunity that has never been given to a slave before.

"Chaos Queen," he said, "how much would you give to receive your freedom."

"I would do anything for it, master." She said as she kneeled and kept her eyes cast on the floor.

"Then, go to the town of Hyouden and fetch me the Koorisui. After you do this for me you shall receive your freedom."

"I shall, my lord."

"Oh, and one more thing, I want you to kill EVERYBODY. I know you have a tendency to spare the children and I have found out that you do make sure that the children are given just homes."

She was shocked; how could he have found out? Even though she hated humanity, she was always weak when it came to killing children.

She managed to blurt out, "I’m sorry, I don’t know if I could do that."

"WHAT!?!, You dare to defy me! I swear, if you don’t do as I ask, this will kill your only chance of freedom and…" He hesitated and then said, "if you don’t, I’ll track down every child that you helped and kill them, but not before I torture them."

"Don’t," she sadly said, "I’ll do as you ask." And with that she took several of his minions and set out to do the task.

She found the house where several people had said where the weapon was, of course they had to be persuaded first. She tried to be reasonable. She asked for the weapon and when they wouldn’t give it to her she had no choice but to kill them. If she didn’t the others surly would have tortured them to death. She gave them a quick painless death. After she killed them she set the minions to search the house, with no successes.

"All right," she said, "If our master can’t have it no one can. Bomb the place!"

As she walked out of the house she looked back and saw a girl staring back at her from the window. She knew the girl could escape before the bombs exploded. She thought about killing her, but remembered the time when she saw her mother die and felt sorry for the girl, she decided to spare her life.

When she returned to her master she told him what had happened.

"Master, we couldn’t find the weapon, but we bombed the place so if there was a weapon in the house, it isn’t there now." She said with a smile on her face. She knew the girl got out with the weapon. "Hopefully", she thought to her self, "she will make sure no one gets it."

"Excellent, did you make sure to kill EVERYBODY."

She gave a sly smile and replied, "Of course, my lord."

"Good. Now for the next raid I want you to…"

"Um...my lord…you promised me my freedom if I completed the task."

"You don’t deserve you FREEDOM! Slaves are meant to be property! Slaves like you are like dirt under my nails! Why, killing one of you is like killing an insect! You just squish it and think nothing of it, like how I killed your mother!"

That did it, now she was angry. She took her sword and charged him. He quickly drew his sword and blocked her attack, but to his surprise she was much stronger than he anticipated. He fell backwards onto the ground. She plunged her sword deep into his chest. She cut into the chest, he screamed, but that only made her plunge the sword deeper into his chest. When she took her sword out blood spewed out from his chest on to the ground. She then dug her bare hand into his lifeless body and ripped his heart out. Some of the slaves heard the noise and came in to see what had happened.

"You’re free now," she said "Pack your things and torch the place." They nodded and left her.

She looked down at her the heart that she held. She could feel it pumping, getting slower and slower and with every pump she saw his life drain away. She placed the heart in a wooden box and left her so called home.

That night she set up camp and built a fire. She got the box and took out the heart. She skewered the heart and threw the box into the fire. She roasted the heart and ate it.

"You are no longer my cage." She whispered to herself. That night as she laid next to the fire she had a dream. She was surrounded in a strange purple mist. She couldn’t see anything, but she heard a voice.

"I am the balance keeper. I have chosen you to balance the forces of good and evil. You must go out and save those who need to be saved, but also you must kill and destroy life. The forces of good and evil feel that you are the only one that has the strength to do this."

She called out to the voice, "Why, me? Sure, over the years I have developed a taste for killing, but I…"

"That is why we want YOU to do this. If you do not the universe itself would be thrown off balance and nothing would exist. Here, to help you on your quest I shall give you the power of Chaos; it is a very dark and powerful element. Also, to give you a balance, I give you the power of Wind, this will balance your powers of ‘good’ and ‘evil’"

She woke up with a start. Was it a dream? Or was it something else, something more than a dream? The fire was still going. She decided to see if it was a dream. She quickly moved her arm across her body. She felt a gust of wind, come from her arm and it blew out the fire.

As she watched the smoke rise up to the star lit sky, she said to herself, "I will do it, even if it means playing both sides." She lay down and fell asleep.

She woke up the next morning to start her journey. "Wait," she said to herself, "How can one be good and do evil things? And, How can a person who does evil things also do good thing? I have no desire to help people. Humans are wicked creatures and I have no sympathy for them. I only helped those children because…because…I felt…"

She then realized that the only reason why she helped those children is because she pitied them, but she knew that if she killed them, she wouldn’t feel guilty. Her mother was a kind person and she felt that she needed to help the children to show that she wasn’t barbaric. She found out that she was and didn’t care.

"I shall spread death and chaos throughout the land. For one can have evil intentions, but if I happen to kill an evil landlord, then the slaves are free. And if I slay people, then the children would commit their lives to protect others."

She smiled, the memories of yesterday were still vivid. "He never saw it coming." She continued to walk down the path and then stopped.

"I have made two mistakes, one: trusting someone, and two: letting that girl live. Oh well, our paths shall meet again and when that happens I shall not be merciful."

Just the thought of destruction made her smile. She continued to walk on the path, which would lead her to the next town.
