The Invitation: K Squad and Mr.T go to a Party
They returned to the mansion and Kurei went to get the mail. He came back and sat in a chair in the living room.
"Oh, great." He said as he looked at one of the letters, "My father’s ‘friends’ are having a party and they want me to come, probably to fill in for my father…seeing that he’s dead." He smiled at the thought.
"What’s wrong with that? I love parties!" Kotohonou said.
"What’s wrong? I’ll tell you," Kurei began, "one: these people are really boring; two: I really don’t know anyone there; and three: these people are…well, they just are."
"But a party! There’s food, probably dancing, right?" Kotohonou said.
"Yeah, but still." Kurei replied.
"Let me see the invitation! It’s probably written on some fancy paper! Gosh! I wish I was rich!" Kotohonou said as she grabbed the paper.
"It says you can bring a few extra guests, you just have to notify them! Come one lets go!" Kotohonou said.
"I don’t know…" said Kaosu, "if Kurei doesn’t want to go, then we shouldn’t." She didn’t really like large parties, she always had to pretend to be someone she wasn’t.
"Come on! PLEASE!" Kotohonou begged.
"Fine, I’ll go." Kurei groaned.
"YAY! I’ll go call Tokiya!" Kotohonou said as she ran to the phone.
"When’s the party?" Kaosu asked.
"Tonight." Kurei replied.
"Are you sure they will have enough of a warning, you are bringing three extra people." Kaosu said.
"It will be no problem. You see, these people are really bored, that’s why they are throwing a party. This will give them something to do." Kurei said with a smile. "Oh, you’re going to have to wear a dress again."
"Again?" Kaosu groaned.
"Yeah, but you can wear the same one you wore last night, this isn’t like a ‘black and white’ party." Kurei said.
"Yay. I’m happy now!" Kaosu said sarcastically.
"Here, why don’t you get your high heels on now and I’ll teach you to walk in them, k?" Kurei said trying to make her feel better.
"How would you know how to walk in them?" Kaosu asked.
"Hey, there is such a thing called TV you know." Kurei said, "I was watching a show and these women were waking in high heels, well, at least trying to, they said, ‘walk on your toes’, and then they got the hang of it. It was a soap opera that Neon was watching, I think it was called ‘Femininity’ or something. "
"I’m sure you were watching how they walk. Bet that’s not all you were watching!" She winked at him. Kurei had the look a pure horror on his face. "Just kidding!" she said as she went upstairs to get her shoes.
Two hours later…
"On my toes, on my toes, on my…ahhh!" Kaosu said as she tripped. Kurei caught her. She had been walking back and forth, up the stairs and down the stairs, and all this time he had been walking next to her, making sure she doesn’t fall.
"This is hopeless, can’t I wear low heel shoes?" she asked.
"They won’t look as nice with the dress." Kotohonou said.
She sighed. This wasn’t going well for her.
"Let’s see what number are we on…oh yes…53!" Kurei said with a smile on his face.
"You know, I’m getting reeeaaaally tired of you counting!" Kaosu said as she walked away from Kurei. She turned around and walked back and said mimicking Kurei, "What number am I on? What number am I on? I’ll tell you what number I’m on!" She walked over and kicked him in the shins.
"Ow ow ow ow!" Kurei said as he bent down and rubbed his bruised shin.
"I’m going up stairs!" she said as she stomped up the stairs.
"Um…Hana-sama," Kotohonou said, "Can you come down for a minute?"
"Fine!" Kaosu said as she walked down the stairs, still wearing the high heels. "This is all one big joke for you all! ‘Let’s see how long she’ll last this time!’" She walked into the living room where Kotohonou stood, Kurei was still rubbing his leg. Kaosu walked around the room. "This is so hopeless! I don’t see why I can’t wear low heels!" she said.
"You’re walking in those damn shoes already!" Kurei said as he continued to rub his shin. Those shoes were quite hard and pointy at the toes and getting kicked by them really hurt. He was a little mad that she kicked him.
"I am?" she said as she looked down, "I AM! YAY! So that’s what you were doing Kurei, getting me annoyed so I wouldn’t pay attention to them! Thank you Kurei!" she said as she gave him a hug. "Let’ me get some ice for that shin of yours!"
Later that night…
"The limo is here!" Kotohonou said as she ran outside, with her high heels on.
"How can she run in those?" Kaosu said as she walked outside. Kurei followed Kaosu, he was wearing a black jacket and a blue shirt, he was going to wear one of his robes, but the girls ‘talked’ him out of it.
"Let’s go pick up Tokiya!" Kotohonou said to the driver.
They arrived at Tokiya’s house. He was waiting outside with a bouquet of flowers. He walked to the limo and handed the flowers to Kotohonou.
"Thanks Tokiya." Kotohonou cooed.
They arrived at the party.
"Wow! There’s a lot of people here!" Kaosu said.
"Not really. I’ve been to a larger ones." Kurei said.
"Kurei, there’s like, one hundred people here, that’s big, ok?" Kaosu said.
"Come Tokiya let’s dance!" Kotohonou said as she dragged Tokiya onto the dance floor.
"Here, let me introduce you to some people." He led Kaosu to a group of women. "This is Sakura, Dymon’s daughter, Michelle, Max’s daughter, Laura, Johnothan’s daughter, and this is Lily, Tori’s daughter. Well, got to go, I have to mingle with my father’s old buddies. Bye!" He said as he left in a hurry.
"Bye Kurei!" The four girls said in unison.
"Ditcher." Kaosu muttered under her breath.
"What’s your name?" Michelle asked.
"Hana Chikara. You know, my father, he’s the wealthiest man in the northern part of Japan, he owns a electronic company." Kaosu said as she tried to blend in.
"Oh, yes, I’ve heard of him!" Sakura said. The other girls nodded. They had no idea who she was talking about, but they didn’t want to seem stupid.
"These girls are so stupid." Kaosu thought to herself. She had been invited to party once and she learned that if you’re not one of ‘them’, then no one will talk to you. You have to pretend to know wealthy people and become a wealthy person to survive these parties.
Kurei was talking to his father’s buddies at the other end of the room.
"Who’s that woman you brought in with you?" one of the gentlemen asked. He was around Kurei’s age and already had made sixty million dollars, in American dollars; he wasn’t ashamed to brag. His name was Yukio, which means: he who gets what he wants.
"Which one? The one dancing with the long haired guy, or the one talking to your sister Sakura?"
"The hot little number talking to my sister." Yukio said as he looked across the room at her.
"Excuse me." Kurei said. He looked quite shocked from his comment.
"Oh, I’m sorry, you’re not dating her, are you?"
"No, she’s just a friend." Kurei said, but than realized that he probably should have said ‘yes’, to save Kaosu from this guy. "She’s going to be so mad at me." Kurei thought. He leaves her by herself to defend against the gossiping social police, and now this guy is probably going to hit on her.
"Excellent." Yukio said with a smile.
"Listen, I don’t think you should hit on her." Kurei said.
"Why not? She is available isn’t she?"
"Yes, but…" Oh shoot he did it again, he gave this guy the argument he needed.
"No, buts, if she’s free than…"
"Take my advice, don’t hit on her." Kurei said, trying so hard to save Kaosu.
At the dance floor…
"Oh, Tokiya, you dance so well." Kotohonou said as she rested her head on his shoulder.
"My I cut in?" a gentleman asked Tokiya.
"No, you may not." Tokiya politely said.
Back to the gossiping social police…
"…and then I said to Hitomi, ‘why can’t you find a more suitable dress, that was so five minutes ago!’" Kaosu laughed.
The girls had no idea who she was talking about, but laughed with her.
"Oh, you know Dai, right?" Lily asked Kaosu.
"Of course I do!" Kaosu said with a smile.
"Well, apparently, those fifty thousand yen earrings that she always brags about are actually worth only ten thousand yen."
"No way!" Kaosu and the rest of the girls said. Lily nodded.
"Oh, and you know the necklace she has?" Kaosu asked.
"Yeah!" the girls said.
"Fake." Kaosu said.
"No!" The girls said.
"Yes." Kaosu replied.
"You are just charming, Hana! Is Kurei your boyfriend?" Michelle asked.
"Is he?" the rest of the girls asked.
"No, he’s just a very good friend of mine. We used to date, but well, you know how he is!" Kaosu said, she was going to make him pay for leaving her there. "Here’s a little information about him that I think you’ll be very interested in…"
Back at the other side of the room…
"What kind of guys does she go for?" Yukio asked.
"I don’t know! Stop asking me these questions!" Kurei said.
"What kinds of flowers does she like?"
"I don’t know…she likes the color red so…red ones?" Kurei was astonished with himself, why was he answering this guy’s questions, the answers were just coming out of his mouth and he didn’t know why, but the strange thing was he actually could answer his questions.
"Hmmm…What does she find attractive in guy’s that she dates?"
"I don’t think she dates at all!" Kurei said.
"So, hasn’t found what she’s looking for, perfect!"
Kurei smacked his hand against his forehead. "I don’t think you’re understanding what I’m saying…"
Back on the dance floor…
"Want some punch?" Tokiya asked.
"Yeah, ok." Kotohonou said. They left the dance floor.
